charliesmumYou know, it tells you something about me that the very first thing I did after receiving my HPB book was to tell you lot.
I'm in active search mode for a new babysitter now. I've given her a million chances, and it is getting silly. If I behaved the way she does to my employer, I'd be sacked.
She wanted money yesterday so she could buy a heating pad because she slipped and fell in the lobby of her building and 'broke her back', and is on medication. I said no. She said well she doesn't like to take the meds when the kids are around, so if she can't get a heating pad, then she can't watch Charlie. (Neighbor has him now) Which, come on, totally strikes me as blackmail. And today she said she can watch him tomorrow, so she's either not in pain, or got someone else to give her money. Who knows.
Meanwhile, even though I gave her $60 to join the pool at the apartment complex, she has yet to take them there, even before she hurt herself. All Charlie seems to be doing is watching tv, playing a wrestling Playstation game (of which I do not approve) and being beaten on by her son.
Now, from what Charlie says, I think that her son is just playing wrestling, but when Charlie tells me that he is getting sat upon and such, that upsets me a bit. I have no idea if the sitter knows this is going on - Charlie has a hard time articulating things sometimes, especially if it is an unfamiliar situation.
So, it is possible my 13 year old neighbor can watch him for the remainder of the summer (with the exception of next week, when she is going to camp) and I'm hoping my friend Jennifer can take him when school starts. Or, if I'm lucky, I'll find someone who is willing to watch him.
Meanwhile I'm quite enjoying HPB, and I hope there are still discussions going on when I'm through because there sure is alot to talk about.
So far I see no signs of anyone being 'OOC'. I think they are all still reacting the way they would react. I mean Hermione hasn't dyed her hair purple and changed her eye color to amber or anything, so we're good.
Slight Spoiler alert:
Although the bit where they were learning how to transfigure their appearance made me wince in pain, thinking of all the bad fanfics that little spell is going to produce. Not that people weren't doing that anyway, now it's cannon! Sigh
