charliesmumSYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Paul Hester, the drummer from popular 1980s Australian rock band Crowded House, hanged himself in a park in southern Australia, an emergency services spokeswoman said Monday.
Back when Charlie was first getting into The Wiggles, when he was around 3 years old, we managed to find the Yummy, Yummy video - this was back before they 'hit it big' here in the States, and it was a challange finding them - his daycare had a copy of one of their videos, which is how we got involved in the first place. Anyway...on the Yummy, Yummy video, the Wiggles had a Paul Hester as a guest singer/drummer on a couple of the songs, and introduced him as 'Paul the Cook'.
I remember thinking how cool it was that someone from an '80's' band that I liked was hanging with the group my son was now into. I'm guessing that Paul did it because he had small children who would enjoy seeing their daddy with the Wiggles.
So, thanks Paul, both for the silly music of my youth, and for making a cameo in a children's video. I hope you've found peace now.
