So I'm on craigslist.org looking for jobs, and in the writing section there is a bit for a literary agent. I don't know enough about craigslist to judge whether or not a successful agent would be advertising on it, but, thinks I, doesn't hurt to contact the dude, right? So I email him, tell him about my 'young adult' novel and my "WIP" which is the mystery thingy I just did for NANO.
Then I get this email back:
RE: The WIP To begin, Carol, we would like to see the first three chapters, a two-paragraph synopsis and a two-paragraph author bio - all as non-zipped Word.doc attachments, please.
So...huh.
He's an 'agent' not a publishing company and he might not accept me anyway after he sees the story and even if he does there's still no guarantee it will get accepted by a publisher, and who knows what kind of contacts he has, but the door is just a tiny bit more open than it was before, right?
And PS. I suck at synopsis. Yikes
