There are many, but the very first one that springs to mind is cantelope.

Since my earliest memories, my grandparents had a house at the shore, and so all my summers were spent in Ocean City, NJ. One year, and I can't even remember how old I was, we were coming back from my grandparent's house, and we stopped at one of those road-side farmer's markets, where we bought cantalope, and my parent's put it in the trunk of the car. By the time we got home, the entire car smelled like sweet cantelope, and the sent didn't leave the car for weeks and weeks.

So, to this day, when I smell cantelope, I am immediately whisked back to the carefree summer days of my childhood spent at the shore with my family.

For me it's the smell of bananas and trips to Upstate NY to see my aunt and uncle. Imagine twelve hundred miles with the smell of overripe bananas. :) They say that the scent of bananas helps people lose weight; I say from experience that they're probably right.
