Huh. Briefly, I believe in 'faith' over 'religion'. Religion is a man-made thing.
There was this line in an otherwise terrible movie, Angel Heart I think it was called, where the guy playing the devil (oops, spoiler alert) said something like 'there's enough religion in the world to make men hate one and other but not enough to make them love one and other.'
I happen to think that's sort of true. Religion is too often used as an excuse to do bad things to other people.
However, I think faith is a good thing. It gives a person something to lean on, something to offer comfort when they need it.
All that being said, if someone feels an organized religion is what gives them faith, then good for them. It's when the faith and the religion become an excuse to belittle and hurt other people, to shut yourself off from the real world, that it becomes a problem.
And that's all I have to say about that.
