Actually I chose it because I would often joke that since I had a child, I'd become known as 'Charlie's mom' first, and generally was waht I answered to. (The Mum part came in because I'm an unapologetic Anglophile)
I wouldn't change it for various reasons, not the least of which is that I'm rubbish at coming up with names and titles anyway.
Ken Levine just did a post about naming characters when writing. It was interesting.
