One of the things in life that always make me happy is random communication with strangers. Not just the nod hello to people who work in the same building, or even the 'crazy weather we're having' conversations in the elevator. I like the moments where I have a conversation with someone in the queue at the bank, or in a store, or walking through the park.
Like, for example, Charlie is in search of a specific toy, which is generally classified as a 'collectible' so of course we can't find the thing, so I expressed aloud my frustration with this while in the toy aisle the other day, and a young father nearby agreed, and we briefly shared a little back and forth about how annoying that was. And just today I was chatting with the woman in front of me checking out of Wal-Mart, just a pleasant little conversation.
I like the idea of befriending someone, even if its only for a moment. Those connections remind me that other people are people, and are capable of being friendly, and that makes me feel optimistic about the world.

I make it a point to try and engage people in conversation now, whereas before I didn't. :)
