Charlie Stuff - an Update
Dec. 17th, 2012 01:17 pmCharlie is a teenager now, as you know, but he's a teenager who is a bit slower in his social and mature growth. I do worry that he doesn't relate to kids his own age like other kids do, but I try to let it go at its own rate.
This past weekend he went on a retreat, or a 'con' with the Unitarian church he goes to with his dad (who would never do anything like that when we were married, but whatever). This was a retreat for teenagers where they can learn aobut and discuss sex and relationships openly and honestly.
He had the best time. This is what he posted on Facebook:
OH MY N.I. THAT WAS THE BEST WEEKEND EVER! i was in Annapolis Maryland for a con. that's a Unitarian thing where we talk all about some certain stuff like this con, we talked about relationship and sex. then we had fun doing all the things we want while not on the schedule. 4 sum reason, we WERE allowed 2 say swear words. unless we don't offend people. i met some new friends and they seemed nice. anyway, i'm back and i had the most wonderful weekend of my life (so far) in February, i may go to Washington D.C. 4 the next con. but 4 now, i am back and i can facebook and play minecraft again. please like and comment after u read this.
When I texted him on Sunday morning to see if he had fun, he texted back - and this is a direct quote, spelling and all 'f*uck yeah, I did.'
So he enjoyed the cursing a bit, apparently. The funny thing is, he NEVER curses. It's one of his things. Or was.
This girl he likes was there, and he was happy he got to know her a bit more. Sadly she is dating someone who is, in his words, 'a duchebag'. (Because they had this discussion group where she said some of the things he did, and the general consensus was that the kid was a 'doucebag'. So he's rather hoping they will break up. This afforded me the opportunity to discuss 'nice guy syndrome' and try to make sure he doesn't fall into that category.
Of course I personally think any girl would be lucky to have him, but I'm his mom.
So he's happy. He still likes school, and he's looking forward to Christmas, and I'm very grateful he's happy and healthy and that we have no sorrows to contend with this holiday season.
