So, my 20th reunion came and went, and it was quite fun, really. About 200 people showed up out of an original class of 730, so that's not too bad. There were quite a few people I didn't remember, but enough that I did, so that was good. Much laughter and hugs and telling your life story in 10 words or less.

Oddly enough, most of the people I knew but haven't been in touch with were people I knew in grade school and middle school, rather than high school.

In the 'wow, she didn't die' category: One woman who looked like any other well-dressed surburban housewife/working mother was someone I remember in 8th grade as being a complete druggie, who got in trouble for beating up some 7th grade girl for looking at her funny, or something. I didn't say hi to her or anything. Don't think she'd remember me, and I didn't want to say 'I was the nerdy girl you picked on once or twice in gym class.'

In the 'I wish that were my job' category: I had a nice chat with this woman, Susan (knew her in grade school), who works as copy writer for a big advertising agency, and her job is to write the copy for the Kirstie Ally Jenny Craig commercials, so this girl I knew has had to deal with Kirstie in person several times. Apparently Kirstie is a huge (yeah, yeah, no pun intended)diva.

Another boy I remember from High School runs the Independent Film Network. I used to call him Perfect Evan because in school he always dressed really well; nary a hair out of place. I can't remember if he's married or not. He felt his job wasn't as glamorous as it sounds. Go figure.

In the 'Gosh, he remembers me' category' This guy, John, was in my English class senior year, and he was on the Rugby team, and I thought he was very cute, but totally out of my league. (plus I kind of had a boyfriend at the time) I wasn't sure if he remembered me - but he had written in my year book, so I figured he might. Thank goodness for the name tags.

So we were chatting, he is still cute in a very metrosexual kind of way, and I mentioned my little crush, and he was surprised and flattered. Makes me wonder if I should have been more aggressive in my crush back then.

In the 'Exotic lifestyle I also rather envy' category: Sherry, who I was friends with in the 7th grade and went to both her Bat Mitzvahs (Parents divorced, both trying to out do the other - she cleaned up!) works for Coach bags and lives in Japan. She won for 'furthest travelled' naturally. "Oh, I have a pretend Coach wallet!" I told her when we were chatting. Which was, let's face it, a really odd thing to say, but there you go.

In the 'oh, potential hookup! category': We, we being my friend Kathryn and I, spent some time with this guy, Kurt, who is still single and teaches Programming at Drexel U. I sensed a bit of flirting between him and Kathryn, so I'm hoping this may actually lead somewhere. He'd be a good fit for her, I think. He's very cool; always had this sort of mystic 'Native American' vibe going, despite not being at all Native American.

In the 'really good to see her again' category: My friend Kristina (see photo below) came in from Ohio, and we'd totally lost touch in the last few years. She graduated from Law school, and has been doing the housewife thing while her husband pursues his career, and she seems pretty contented. She always had this sort of self-depreciating sense of humor, and still does, and we giggled a lot, just like old times.

In the 'revenge is sweet' category: I don't think I knew this guy at all in school, but my friend Kathryn knew him, so we were chatting, and he'd apparently been small and geeky and seriously picked on, during school. He said he hated every moment of school, so I guess he came to the reunion to show that he is now very tall and successful. Good for him, I say.

Overall, most people looked pretty darned good, (Kurt, bless him, said I hadn't changed at all) and, probably because my school was in a very upper middle class neighborhood, most people seemed to be extremely successful. (well, I suppose the completely unsuccessful ones wouldn't show up)

I had a good time. When the hall kicked us out, a bunch of us trotted over to this place called "The Main Street Pub" and hung there for awhile. I didn't get home until 2:30am. Which is totally past my bedtime.

I didn't take too many photos in the end, people were moving around too much, and we never got a chance to do the 'group photo' thing, here's one that I'm in that looks pretty good. (several photos I have are slightly blurry or I look like a dweeb, so I'm not showing them.)

Wow! I can't wait for my 10th (Save the youngster jokes!). I wasn't part of the popular crowd BY.ANY.MEANS, but I knew a lot of people from different social groups, and I'm soooooo interested in seeing what everyone else has made of themselves.. mostly because I'm incredibly nosy.

I'm glad you had a good time. Sounded like a blast.

Well, you look really cute, and it sounds like you had a good time!

Fake coach wallet? That's so hilarious! I bet she's still laughing about it.
