Yesterday The Lost Boys was on the Scifi Channel, and one of the first things that popped into my head was 'oh, you could so write a slash story about David and Michael'.

I loved that movie when it came out, and I'm not usually one for the scary. But there was enough humour in the thing to make the icky bits bearable. And the icky bits were relatively few and far between. The movie tagline was 'Sleep all day, party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire.' I had the poster in my dorm room. I also had the soundtrack album. It was rockin'.

I need to get it on DVD so I can watch it again without things bleeped out and stuff. It was amusing how dated the hair styles were. 1987 and big hair and mullets were all the rage, even for vampires.

Now Jamie Gertz, who was the Mysterious Girl, plays a mother on a mediocre sitcom. The guy who played Max is now Rory Gilmore's granddad, and David, the uber cool vampire now plays a CIA agent. Marco, one of the vampires went on to be Bill S. Preston Esquire, and then faded from sight. Jason Patrick - he did a few things, including the Speed 2 thing, but that's it, I think.

There must be Lost Boy icons somewhere. *wanders off to look*

That movie has a LOT of slash written about it. I've never actually read any, but I've seen it mentioned a lot. And there's a Smallville story where Clark and Lex keep up a running commentary on the gayness of it.

That's just funny.

I saw that movie at a Halloween slumber party in middle school, back to back with Arachnophobia. I don't think I managed to go to sleep that night.

I never saw Arachnaphobia because...well because it was all about spiders. I kept wincing through the beginning of Spiderman because of the spiders - no way would I have been able to sit through a movie that had them everywhere.

I liked Lost Boys because it was scary yet really amusing.

Spiders are evil. They are evil aliens who are bent on taking over the world. Every time I see one, I know it wants to chew my arm off.

*shudders*

I hate spiders.

Once when my husband wasn't home, Charlie called me in his room all excited because there was a spider on his ceiling. It was frickin' huge, this spider.

Well, I can't get close enough to spiders to kill even when they aren't on the cieling them because I know they will leap at me saying "Bwahahahahaha, I've got you now!" so I couldn't smush it, and I didn't want to pass along my phobia to Charlie who currently is pretty phobia free, (except for styrofoam. Don't ask) so I tried to stay cheerful.

"Oh, look at that. A spider. Do you like the spider?"

"Yes."

"Does he have a name?"

"Grib Grab"

You can't kill a spider called Grib Grab. For all I know he's still lurking in the corners of Charlie's room

You know, Charlie is quite brave. In his innocence, he is oblivious to the fact that spiders are evil.

For the record, hairspray is a fantastic thing to use on spiders. *gazes at can of hairspray fondly*

Yes. It's fanfrothingtastic.

I LOOOOOVE that movie. To this day, even with all the cheesy 80s hair and SAXAPHONE and the freakin' Coreys, it still scares the bejeezus out of me.
I always think about The Lost Boys whenever I surf past that ridiculous Jamie Gertz show on CBS and how hot she was back in the day and how not she is now.

Was The Lost Boys before Bill and Ted? I always thought it was after. But yeah, you can't take Bill S. Preston all that seriously as a vampire.

The maggots/rice worms/noodles scene still makes me ill.

It's sad that Jason Patric kinda faded out. He was SOOOOO hot back then.

Ditto with Jamie Gertz. When I first caught a glimpse of that show I couldn't place her (Do you remember her as the preppy girl on Square Pegs by any chance?) and when I realised who it was, I was surprised. I wish I could like that show, but it is just so dumb. And she does that fake Chicago accent and it just grates on my nerves.

It is an awesome movie still, despite the leather clad sax player and the hair.

Bill and Ted came out after Lost Boys because I remember my friend and I saying "Oh! It's Marco! Yay!"

Jason Patric was hot. I think Kiefer really nuianced that character. So very slashy.

The Lost Boys! That's such a classic vampires film, second only to Buffy in my book.
(And of course Bill & Ted is a cult movie)

I suppose I was older or just in another generation. I always thought there was attraction between Michael and David

I so totally wanted Jamie Gertz's hair from that movie. Scary thing was, I had it because I had TEH BIG!11 hair.

Jason Patric was also in Geronimo and The Alamo.*

I had the big Jamie Gertz hair too. Long and curly. Bitch to brush, but there you go.

I also wore more long flowy skirts than was good for me, thanks to that movie. :)

LOL--I wore the denim mini-dresses a lot because my legs were one of my best assets. *g*

Oh how I loved that movie when it came out. And the soundtrack too. Rory's grandfather will always be the head vampire to me.

I remember "Square Pegs". And the one movie that Jason Patric did that I loved was Rush. Very dark, very good. Now I have that damn "Square Pegs" song in my head.

Square Pegs was SO my generation. It came out when I was a freshman in High School, so it was really appropriate.

Such an odd little show.

The guy who played the 'punk' died, which I found sad.

The song was sung by The Waitresses. In case you needed to know that. :)

A friend of mine had a giant French subway movie poster from that movie, and it was beautiful. I coveted it tremendously.

I love that movie...though the last time I watched it I giggled quite a bit. ;)

A Coreys' movie!

And the white German Shepard Dog.

Ahh, to be a vampire.

Jason Patric - one sexy guy, but Im all for some Keifer. Break me off a piece of him!

Im glad you said that Speed 2 thing, cause it was a THING, totally not a flick. Good choice on Keanu's part. Smart man. I love him.
