The morning of Charlie's birthday party

The child was up at 5am today, he is so excited. I got him to go back to sleep, but he was up again around 6am complaining of a stomach ache, and then promptly threw up. I'm hoping it was just from excitement. He went back to sleep and as of this moment, is still sleeping, so fingers crossed, okay?

I've never seen him this excited for a birthday party. He seems to have 8 fixed in his mind as a very important year. He refused to put his pull up on last night, because he said he won't need them any more. I really hope so, but I'm not sure it is something he can control. Again, hope so, but we'll see.

I really ought to be writing a list of things I need to do to get ready, but I can't seem to jump start my brain. The Husband didn't come home from his friend's house until close to 4am, which a) woke me up and b)pissed me off, as he will now very likely sleep until noon and therefore be no help to me at all. Then with the Charlie issues, I didn't sleep very well myself. Sigh.

I got to meet a LJ friend yesterday - elfmanfan *waves*, as we live in the same town. She's the first LJ'er I met on line before meeting in person. And she's really nice. And has the cutest baby nephew.

I often wish I could win the lottery or something, so I could spend my days travelling the world and meeting all the people I know on line. That'd be fun.

Well, I'd best finish my coffee, and get my day started.

ETA: Neil Gaiman posted on his blog that many people wrote to advise him to sell the satanic tomato (see his blog for details) of which I was one. So even if I wasn't mentioned at all, I feel at least like I was part of that. So yay me. He said, since tomatos don't last very long, if anyone had a suggestion of how he could use it for charity, so I wrote again and suggested this: You could print out a photo of the tomato, autograph it, and maybe write the story of the satanic tomato on the back of the photo. People would bid for that, I think.

The good thing is, when Charlie gets his mind set on doing something, he generally perserveres until he does it. So, fingers crossed!

Hmmm. Has Charlie been watching "Schoolhouse Rock"? If so, the closing line* of "Figure Eight" might have made an impression on him. I know it made one on me when I was growing up and watching the original airings of Schoolhouse Rock.

I loved Schoolhouse Rock. Since I'm homeschooling 2/3 of the orclings, I was fortunate enough to get it. It's been wonderful to have.

I'm sure he's just really excited. And it's great if he's got age eight set in his head as an important date. Maybe it's just a matter of mind over matter and he'll master the sleeping through the night without a pullup thing.
Hope the party goes smoothly. Or as smoothly as a party with a roomful of eight year olds can!
