Tonight I watch "Ghost Whisperer", which isn't a bad show, not exactly 'appointment television' but not a bad thing to watch if one has nothing else to do on a Friday night, assuming someone is interested in watching a sentimental show about a skinny woman helping lost souls say goodbye to their loved ones and so forth.

I do, however, fail to understand why TPTB at CBS think this show is going to bring in younger viewers than Joan of Arcadia did - at least JOA was about a teenager, where the Ghost Whisperer is a 20-something newlywed.

Anyway...Ghost Whisperer isn't a bad show. Decent acting, the writing is pretty good, and the sappy isn't too horribly sappy, although it comes pretty close. It's not the most original of plots, though as Medium is already on the air (though more of a crime drama than GW is) and there was a very short lived show called...Dead Last, I think, about this rock n roll trio who got some amulet and now see dead people and have to help them say goodbye to their loved ones and so forth. I guess it was a show before its time, as supernatural is all the rage these days.

I wish I knew someone who could do that - see dead people, I mean. I've been told by more than one supposed psychic that there is someone with me. And Charlie too, come to that.

Right. Meanwhile, in real life my husband has some band staying in our attic for the next two nights, and it sounds like they are going to 'record' now, which will seriously piss me off as it is after nine and Charlie has to go to bed, and won't be able to do so with drums pounding in the attic.

Sigh...

Eeep! That's a little creepy, imo. I'd really want to know who it is too.

I didn't want to watch The Ghost Whisperer, I just can't see Jennifer Love Hewitt as anything but the roles she's played as a ditzy teenager.

Good luck with the band thing, I don't envy you.

You have a *band* in your *attic*?

Yes I have a band in my attic. And for some reason they think it's a good idea to record drums at 10 o'clock at night. Fortunately Charlie was able to fall asleep - although now I can't use him as an excuse to get them to shut the heck up. I already had to ask them politely to not smoke in the house as it totally drifts down and I can smell it and I hate smoke. Spent my whole life learning how to take shallow breaths because my mother smokes, not something I want to do in my own house. Sigh.

That sounds dreadful, all of it.

I thought I was the only one that remembered Dead Last.

I rather liked it. It deserved more of a chance, I thought.

I've seen people before who no one else can see, but no where near as reliably as was on the show last night (I watched, too). Mostly when I was a kid, but every once in a while since then. And places I live tend to become haunted when I live there, and stay that way when I leave. When I lived with my friends T and R for a few months for my last semester of college the curtains in my room started turning from white to a smoke-gray, all while I kept having dreams of a little girl dying in a fire. You can sort of see the shape in the blinds. They all used to be the color of the middle stripe. Curtains here (http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-11/898771/ghost2.jpg).

The little girl is still with them, she turns lights on/off and opens and shuts doors all the time, things like that.

I'm full of ghost stories. But it's not something I can control enough to go see you and just tell you who is following you/your son around. It's not like in that show.

Okay first of all - oh, spooky curtains. Secondly, that is totally cool that yo see dead people. It would be nice if it was as coherent as it was on the show, wouldn't it?

If you and I ever meet in person, and there IS someone hanging around with me, would you be able to sense them, do you think?

I believe I'm sensitive, but not very. I sometimes get these dizzy, shaky feelings in certain places I later find our are supposed to be haunted. It happened once and I took a photo and there were those 'orb' things in the photos and I sent them to this ghost hunter thing and told them the feelings I got and they said their psychics experience the same things and they thought the orbs might be something, but someone else told me it was just a camera thing.

It's all interesting, though, isn't it? I'd love to hear more of your stories!

If we meet in person I might be able to, I'm not really sure. My "sense" of people was always stronger than my Grandmother or my Mom (who both have it to a small degree), but I don't know what percentage of "ghosts" that I sense, you know? I might only see one in ten million, I have no idea how many their are. But I do sense them in lots of places, and if we meet, I promise to tell you anything I feel/see. :)

I should post some of my "ghost stories". I think I've posted the curtain one somewhere (I already had that pic in my online account, why would I have it there if I had not?), but maybe I'll post some as we get closer to halloween...

Ghost Whisperer looks interesting (I find JLH more appealing than the constant vacant staring of Patricia A.) but I'm turned off by the name. This is Hollywood, we had Horse Whisperer (original and good) but now we have everythingelseWhisperer. Puhleez! Get creative!

I'm with you on cigarette smoke, and I grew up in a smoker's house, so you would think I wouldnt mind it or something. But ick. Its always so startling for me now to leave CA and go somewhere that still allows smoking in restaurants etc.
