The biggest problem with the LOST community on LJ is the thread in which the week's episode is discussed tends to get very long, very quickly and is full of posts people make while they are watching the show and tend to be things like, 'Oh no! What's going to happen to (insert character's name)?' Or, 'Wow! I didn't expect to see that (insert strange plot twist)!' or really unhelpful things like 'OMGWTFBBQ!' These are hard to wade through. So, I thought I'd post my thoughts here on my journal. For those who don't watch LOST, move along, nothing to see here.
While I was very happy to know Sawyer wasn't dead, I kept asking the telly, 'Where's Jin?' every time they showed the raftaways. I'm very pleased they had Jin at the very end, because I would have been sad.
Speaking of Jin - how did he get back to the island and captured so darned quickly? Did he ride a shark or something? My own theory was that he somehow snuck onto the boat with Walt and was discovered when they got to the shore.
Speaking of sharks, apparently Bruce had the weird symbol thingy on his tail. I didn't see it, possibly because I had my hand over my eyes every time they did the Jaws thing.
Speaking of the weird symbol thingy, I'm glad they showed the hatch from Locke and Kate's POV, because I really wanted to know. Locke is so smart - giving Kate the knife The bit with the chocolate was brilliant. I loved how she stopped trying to escape for a minute to have some chocolate. Girl has her priorities.
As other people have said, obviously Locke watched Ghostbusters, because he answered 'yes' to the 'are you him' question.
Speaking of the 'are you him' question, I totally think Hurley is 'him'. Because the snowman joke sounds like something Hurley would know the answer to. Plus the whole numbers thing.
Speaking of the numbers, any theories as to why the numbers have to be keyed into the computer? It is obviously re-setting something. I wonder if it isn't just 'busywork' and doesn't really do anything. And is it tied into all the strange psychic stuff that is happening - the whispers and the walking and whatnot?
Speaking of strange psychic stuff, I hope we find out what happen to Walt soon, and why the Others wanted him. Poor little guy. I actually squeed when Michael gave baby Walt the toy Polar Bear. I just thought that was cute.
It really is an amazingly well written show. I love things that sort of exceed basic entertainment and transend into art, if that isn't too pretentious a thing to say. Buffy did that on several occasions, as does House. Gilmore Girls doesn't, but it is still top-quality entertainment.
Can I borrow a quarter? I need to buy a life...

on 2005-09-29 02:30 pm (UTC)I agree that Jack is "him"... Do you think that he and Desmond ran into each other again after that meeting in the stadium?
I love this show. Love love it.
I could hardly watch the parts with Michael and Walt's mom.. just broke my heart. Ugh. So painful.

on 2005-09-29 03:44 pm (UTC)You named the shark Bruce? How funny! I did not notice the tag on his tail, but heard about it later.
It's cool how popular Jin has become now that we know more about him and he made up with Sun!
I love how they showed it from Locke and Kate's POV. At first, we saw repeats and extra scenes and it was like, did we miss something last week? lol
Locke is so smart! :D

on 2005-09-29 04:12 pm (UTC)Another question - am I the only person who thinks Hurley's hot? Besides the sweating, I mean. Something about him, he's just... I dunno. Hot. Maybe it's his hair. *shrug*

on 2005-09-29 05:36 pm (UTC)Didn't you find the Michael's flashback sequence to be extranious? I didn't glean any new info. Already knew that he loved his son but gave him up to his, I think, overly coldhearted wife.
I need a new tv I could hardly see the shark. And I was seriously upset about the lack of Jin until the final scene. Oh and I would have stopped for chocolate too! Go Kate!

on 2005-09-29 05:55 pm (UTC)I did like Sawyer saying the thing about at least Walt might have a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. Sawyer is love. Snarky love, but love.
Say what you will about E. Lily's acting as Kate, but the way she sort of melted when the chocolate hit her mouth was so funny.

on 2005-09-29 06:03 pm (UTC)To those of us who don't watch Lost, that post title is an impressive non-sequitur*. I would assume, though, that it makes more sense to those who do watch the show.
*National Non-Sequitur Society: We don't make sense; therefore, we love pizza!

on 2005-09-29 06:21 pm (UTC)That is the best slogan ever.
The title to the post is actually a line from a Split Enz song. Just so you know.

on 2005-10-01 01:42 am (UTC)I had the exact same reaction regarding Jin. I swear everytime they cut back to the raftugees, I was waiting for them to show us if he'd made it.
I'm not so sure it was Locke being smart so much as him not wanting to get tied up. I mean, he did it in a smart way, but don't think it was his major motivation.
I could not watch Sawyer digging the bullet out of his shoulder. That was as bad as the amputation station Jack tried to set up last season. Other than that scene, Sawyer was love.

Take a number, I'm ahead of you in that line.
