OMG Sick

I left work at noon today because, seriously, I was drooping at my desk.

So I came home, got in my comfy sweat-suit, had some lunch, and sat on my couch and dozed a bit in front of the telly. Saw an awesome show on the Logo channel - it's called "First Comes Love" and it's one of those reality/documentary type shows where the show people help a couple plan their wedding. Since this is the Logo channel, the couples are all same-sex couples and since it is about same-sex couples getting legally married, it takes place in Canada. It is hosted by Scott Thompson, formerly of Kids in the Hall. The gay one. No not that one, the other one. I cried through practically the whole show. My cold makes my overly sensitive nature even more sensitive, and it was really sweet and romantic and I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. So sue me.

The ceremony was really nice - the officiant declared them 'married wives' which I thought was a nice way to replace the 'man and wife' bit.

Know what doesn't help a cold? Not being able to go to sleep until close to 11 because your husband is watching a movie on the telly in the bedroom. Yes I could have asked him to turn it off, but he gets all huffy and martyrish when I request something of him, and, as I was cranky, I didn't want to say anything that might come out unnecessarily naggy and harsh. So I suffered in (martyrish) silence. Sometimes I can fall asleep anyway, but last night, not so much. And then I woke up at 5am again for some dumb reason, and of course right when I drifted back off to sleep his alarm went off. Pity me. Or not.

Sad, isn't it, how the day flies by when one is home and on one's comfy couch and not at work? Time is such an elastic measurement.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] chavvah who finished her Master's Thesis. (Why couldn't her Master do his own thesis? ba dum bum)

All this typing has made me feel light-headed, so I think I'll go lie down. Not really. I think I was just channeling Ferris Buller for a moment there.

Sorry to hear you're feeling badly. Hope you get better soon. Hubby needs to show a bit more compassion towards his sick wife, I think. I remember that he is like my own in that when he is ill, it's like he's at death's door.

Yeah he is, and he goes to bed at 7 o'clock or something, so I can't even read in bed to help me fall asleep. And if I'm reading and have the light on he gets all 'are you going to be finished soon?'

Sigh.

Maybe I can guilt him into giving me a neck rub when he gets home. :)

Wow. That was a fast response! Thanks for the hugs! Am going to lay down in a moment or two. Or make dinner.

OMG, I can sympathize with the telly in the bedroom thing! My husband will hole up in the bedroom with television, the laptop AND the overhead light on (because without it he can't see the keyboard). He will NOT just go to bed, either.

I'm like you, sometimes I can go to sleep, but most of the time I can't.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm sorry you don't feel good! Big hugs, and I hope you get better soon. The wedding stories sound perfectly sappy and romantic, and I'm glad you're enjoying them.

Feel better soon! Get lots of rest, and don't let hubby play the martyr with you. Just remind him that you take care of his ungrateful ass when he's sick, and that he needs to do the same with you if he ever wants to get sick again.

Aww, I hope you feel better soon! *sends hugs and good food and all that good stuff*

I am envious of this Logo channel. I may have to get cable just so I can watch Logo.

my sixth grade teacher used to say a cold lasts seven days when you work and only a week when you're home in bed
