We open where we left off, with Richard telling Lorelei that they have to do something about Rory, but Lor isn't having any of it because they had a plan and Richard and Emily changed the plan. Richard wants to bribe Rory with cars and money (and, Richard, it'd work on me. Just saying) but Lor says Rory can't be bought and she'll go back to Yale when she's ready. Richard talks about how Rory will be 21 in 10 days, but Lorelei brushes him off and he hurumphs and leaves.

We come back from commercial with Lorelei moaning about Richard and Luke trying to figure out how he got the dollhouse from the car to the porch because it is really heavy. Lorelei mentions how she and Rory had a plan for Rory's 21st birthday. They were going to Atlantic City and were going to sit at a blackjack table at 11:59 then play 21 on her 21st birthday, and if they one they would do 21 things and then there was stuff with 21 guys that wouldn't be appropriate with Luke being in the picture now.

Scene shifts to Rory asleep, and it is 4:03. Madeline Albright comes in, and they basically play this scene from the 1st season where Lorelei comes in and wakes up Rory at the time of her birth and tells the story. It's the exact same scene except it is Madeline Albright, so you know it is a dream. Which it is. Rory wakes up, tells Logan what she dreamed and we head off to commercial.

Lorelei meets Babette and her husband who are preparing their annual Halloween thingy, and sort of indicate Lorelei's candy apples in the tree is lame.

Rory is in the pool house of What The Hell Are You Doing With Your Life, kissing Logan and grasping her $31,000 purse because they are about to go out. Emily comes in babbling something about a blouse, Rory goes to check, Emily asks Logan if he was planning on doing any thing for Rory's birthday, he looks surprised and says no, Rory comes back, Emily says to Rory that she'd like to throw a birthday party, Rory agrees, Emily leaves.

Logan asks why she didn't tell him about her birthday, she says she isn't looking forward to it, and then tells the exact same birthday story Lorelei said to Luke. They kiss some more.

Luke is cooking dinner, and, incidentally there was plenty of affection and kissing, so all the people on TwoP can shut up now about how they never kiss, and Lor says she has this new plan for Halloween which is too complicated to explain but it has to do with her dressing like a mad scientist and pretending to pull out Lukes organs using link sausages. Luke, predictably, says he wants nothing to do with that part of the plan. Paul Anka the dog isn't around but he is mentioned. Apparently he likes broccoli.

Emily is babbling to Rory about when she turned 21 she wanted invitations that were lined with real pearls which, I'm sorry, is just stupid. Rory is distractedly eating cake that she is supposed to be sampling. She tells Emily to plan everything, Emily is happy, talks about the guest list, and calls Lane "Rory's Asian friend" several times. Em wants to know if Rory wants her mother to come. Rory says yes, and looks really happy about it.

Sookie and Lorelei are talking about sausages. Real ones, although there was a double entendre thrown in there because how can you not when you are talking about sausages, and the invite to Rory's party comes. Lorelei thinks it is just another of her father's manipulations, and looks sad.

Richard surprises Rory and Logan kissing in his car. He and Emily discuss the fact that Rory seems to be getting serious and that she may be considering having sex with him. We all laugh because we know she already has. They decide it is time to have a talk with her. And this explains how they had a daughter get pregnant at 16, I guess.

Rory is invited to dinner. One of the guests is a minister who, when artfully left alone with Rory, tells her that her virtue is her most valuable gift and if she gives it away to the wrong guy, when the righth guy comes along she won't have anything to give him, and will have to get him a sweater.

Rory, looking rather perturbed, tells him that the 'valuable gift ship' has sailed ages ago.

'Really?' he says, surprised.

'Yep. It's probably in Figi.'

Next thing you know the pool house is filled with stuff and Rory has been moved to the bedroom next to the grandparents.

Rory asks if her mother RSVP'd and when she finds out she didn't she calls Luke and, through Luke, yells at her mother for not calling. Lorelei is thrilled that Rory called and says she will come to the party.

Rory and Lorelei both wake up at 4:03 the night before the birthday and look sad.

Party day, and Richard is nowhere to be seen. Emily is bitching at everyone - there's this door bit that was kind of funny - and there is a drink they invented called "The Rory". It is pink and kind of icky.

Logan comes, Lane comes with her boyfriend Zach, and finally meets Logan, Zach says to Logan, 'so, you're rich, huh?' which was kind of funny.

Paris and Jonathan Doyle are there and share the great news that Paris is the new editor of the Yale paper because Doyle is stepping down. They do this bit where she says "Last year I was sleeping with the editor," and Doyle finishes with "And now I am." They do it a lot. It's pretty funny. Rory looks sort of sad.

Lorelei and Luke come, Emily snarks at poor Luke, they wander around, there is a briefly akward meeting with Lorelei and Rory but it wasn't hostile, but Rory did the same "I have to say hello to other people" gambit Emily did, and you can see it bothers Lorelei.

Lorelei gets greeted by a couple of middle aged DAR women who introduce themselves as friends of Rory. Luke asks 'What's DAR' and they laugh.

Luke trots off to find beer, and bumps into Rory. They have a chat then he gives her a present, which is apparently a string of pearls belonging to his mother. It was very sweet. Rory introduces him to another DAR lady as her stepfather-to-be. I thought that was going to be how Emily found out but I was wrong because Emily goes to talk to Lorelei and sees the ring. Before she can say anything else, the caterer comes up and says something about the cake, and Emily snits that Richard is still in his study.

Lorelei goes to see Richard in his study, and he is sad because Rory is aimless and is wasting her life and he feels like it is all his fault. He is also upset because she was having sex. There is a really funny bit where he talks about how he spent $40,000 to renovate her sex house, and bought her sex mattress and sex box spring. Lorelei tries to comfort him, but is interrupted by Emily who yells at him for being in his study, and he says how they lost Rory the minute they didn't follow Lorelei's plan.

Emily says they haven't lost her until she comes home pregnant, and Lorelei takes that as her clue to leave.

Richard tells Emily that he doesn't like what Rory is doing, that it is frivolous, and Emilys says 'you mean you don't want her to be like me,' which he totally does but tries to deny it. She leaves, upset, and I hope this doesn't mean they are going to seperate again.

Lorelei and Rory have an akward chat where they catch each other up on their lives. It was sweet, but then Rory is whisked away to do the cake thing, and she looks kind of happy and Lorelei looks sad and tells Luke it is time to go.

As they are driving home in the truck, Luke says, "You can pull sausage links out of me if you want." And she smiles.

So there you go. Not my best recap but it is still cold in my house and my fingers are numb.

Night!
