This is for [livejournal.com profile] anormand

A man and his son are exiting a restaurant and the dad exposits how proud of his son because he is graduating from Princeton the next day. They are of modest means, so the father is glad the son is going to make something of himself, and also that the mom is dead. Dad warns son not to drink too much, since he needs to look sharp for the ceremony and the son is all 'oh, I'm so over drinking, I'm turning in early' which we find out is a LIE (aka the theme of the evening) because the next scene is the kid doing some kind of drinking game I'm not familiar with but someone elsewhere called it 'boat racing'. Anyway, he wins, hugs his pal and then suddenly jerks like he'd been shocked. It keeps happening, people panic, someone shouts to call 911 annnnd commercial.

So there's Wilson doing the whiteboard and since his is a leftie (yay!) his writing is all messy and the, well, let's call them ducklings like they do on TwoP look puzzled. House comes in, looking extremely hot in his new motorcycle jacket that he tells Cameron keeps him both 'warm and cool. How does it know?' then he and Wilson do this brilliant back and forth where House suggests something and Wilson is all 'did it'. House cryptically tells everyone to 'look for what's missing' and hobbles out. Foreman snots (sexily because I think he is yummy) how they need answers not riddles, and they all trot off to try to figure out what is missing and blah blah blah medical stuff hurry up and get to the bit where Houses is showing off his motorcycle to Wilson.

Wilson apparently lent House $5,000 to buy this bike, and Wilson disapproves. Tells House that two-wheeled transportation is not good for a crippled, self-destructive drug addict, but House doesn't care. He asks Wilson, in what is will soon become the Ho-Yayest scene in television outside of Will and Grace to 'take him out to diner'. The ducklings come out, Cam asks where would House put the cane (answer, totally cool holder on the side of his bike) and he tells her that if Wilson takes him to dinner he'll find out. Seriously. Get a room already.

Already this is getting too long, so I'll try to narrow it down. Son isn't getting better. The ducklings think maybe it is genetic, since the mother died in a car accident while driving on a straight road - cops thought she fell asleep at the wheel. When they ask the son about this, he says she was killed by a drunk driver, and it turns out the dad LIED about that because he wanted to scare the son straight.

House gets a call. It is from his mother. Parents in town for layover on way to Paris. (hopefully this is before the riots because otherwise...not the best place to go right now) He says can't see them, has dinner meeting. Cam calls him on that, saying he LIED but he's all no, I can't lie to my mother. I do have a dinner. That he forced Wilson to agree to. Cam gets ridiculously interested in this and scams Wilson into inviting her and everyone else including the parents to this dinner. House is not pleased.

Son gets worse. Turns out he'd gone to Jamacia with his rich friends but didn't tell his dad because he wanted to have fun for once instead of working, so he LIED and said he had work to do.

Funny scene where this guy thinks Cam is a hooker because she is checking son's friend to see if he is sick too, and he had a rash on his groin and she insisted on seeing it and he refused to go to the hospital because he was busy with his brand new job that he probably got from his dad. Because he's rich like Logan on Gilmore Girls.

Son gets better, then gets worse, and it turns out the dad who LIED about his job and had a scrap yard, had given his son something that turned out to be seriously radioactive. Bummer.

So, the father and the friend, who was brought into the hospital vomiting blood, are going to be okay because they got the radition treatment on time and weren't as exposed to it, but sadly, son isn't going to be fine.

House's parents show up early, Cam's there, she gets invited to have early dinner with them but at House's pained expression she says no, and later he actually thanks her. See his dad, an old military man, never ever lies, which, House said, made him a bad dad. This was earlier illustrated when House Sr told House that, just because he is in constant pain and has to park in the handicapped spot he should know how lucky he is. Because he won't lie even if it would make his son feel better, and won't lie if he is disappointed in his son which he evidently is.

House witnesses a scene with the father and son and the father LIES to the son that he is going to be okay, even though he won't because he loves his son and all the lies they told each other were out of love. And it was really a touching moment that I just can't do justice to.

Wilson and Cam talk about House's parents and she can't understand why the dad would be disappointed in their brilliant, world famous, son, and Wilson says something like it must be hard to know that you son is miserable.

And that's pretty much it. Go to Television Without Pity. They do it better than me.

I think you did a pretty good job. Especially telling them to get a room.

I was thinking as I watched, "The House/Wilson shippers are probably going nuts! Oh, wait. I am a House/Wilson shipper! I'm nuts! This is so cool!"

Cameron SHOULD have left that guy her card. It would have been funny when he called the hospital looking for her.
