Well, I'm up to 15,520 words in my story. That's not too bad. Not sure how good the story is, but whatever. It's getting the words down that count.

In my story my main character is left an antique lap desk that should Be Important Later. I googled 'antique lap desk' images, so I could describe it properly, and found the perfect desk. It is exactly what I need in my story, and it turns out it is worth about $3,000, which is nice. For my fictional heroine, anyway.

Last night my husband was playing with his band in Asbury Park, so Charlie and I had dinner at the Pop Shop. I had this really good cheese sandwich - I decided to be adventurous at try the goat cheese sandwich that had olive tapenade on it. Because I love tapenade. It was really delicious.

Meanwhile, Charlie has been saying all week he wanted to go to the Pop Shop for breakfast on Saturday because they have this 'kids pajama party' where the kid gets a a free breakfast if he or she is PJs. So we went again this morning. Lots of adorable kids in their adorable pajamas. The owner, Connie, took photos of all the kids and it will be on their website in a week or so. I shall point you in that direction when the time comes.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] justleakynow's husband was working last night and today, and this morning teased me about how often we show up there. It's my goal to get my own table. Well, not really, but how cool would that be?

Why is it some people on ElJay seem to go out of their way to be belligerent? I posted something on [livejournal.com profile] lost_tv yesterday, mentioning this pretend "Driveshaft" website. I wasn't sure if the site was an 'official' site or a fan made site, and said so in my very first sentence: I don't know if this Driveshaft 'fan site' is an official Lost site, ala the Hanso one or not.

This person's reply was: Considering that a huge number of us on LJ know the fans who run the site, is this really a serious question?

I mean, is it just me, or is that kind of rude? It seems to me the person is deliberately trying to bait me.

Meanwhile, I had a theory about Lost that I posted there, and shall put here under a cut for anyone who cares:

What if, thanks to the whole electromagnetic or whatever thingy, due to the 'life-extending' project, somehow makes time go more slowly on the island. So, while a year has passed in real life, it only seems like 40 days.

This could explain the unexpected rain - to the lostaways it is a weird rain storm, but maybe it is 'rainy season' in real time.

And maybe, somehow the 'others' are in 'real' time, while our lostaways aren't, which would totally help explain a growth spurt on Walt's part when they do get him back.

And Danielle says 'has it really been 16 years'? because to her maybe it only seemed to be a year or two.

Ouch. People can be mean and elitist, especially when it comes to their particular fandom. I had a similar experience when I joined a fandom list and was jumped all over on my very first post for not knowing something that was common knowledge among this very small, very exclusive fandom. I finally quit the list, never really having felt at home there.

Actually, that's an interesting theory about the electro-magnet thingie. I really have to stop reading all these theories, it's enough to drive me batty - but I just can't seem to stop myself from clicking on them!

It seems that everyone is doing this Nano thing.I have read the first lines of your chapter, it is strange so far...
You're the first one I see with this nano page. It was fun, I love the book layout hehehehe.
Anyway, good luck to you.

I'm not sure it it's LJ or what, but the community [livejournal.com profile] we_are_lost had a lot of obnoxious people in it, as well. I finally left. Now that I'm so involved in www.thefuselage.com, I don't need LJ communities for LOST. You should check it out. Sure you have some obnoxious people, but there are a lot of great people there, as well. It's a bit overwhelming at first, but it's a great site. Come on over!

Yeah I don't know why people on fan communities can get this way. Perhaps they just need more things in their lives to do, such that they don't focus so much on what they are fans of, that they cannot it seems, tolerate those who just like the show enough to have some questions...

"Get a life" we should tell them, I think.

I'm confused, can we read your story there?

No - can't read the story there - there's an exerpt, but that's it. I may post it somewhere eventually.

The NaNo thing is just a sort of contest. It's supposed to get people writing and not worrying about anything other than getting the words down.

Ok, where is the excerpt? :-)

Contest? What can you win? 6.2 billion dollars or a gift certificate for a Big Mac?

Um...I think you win the satisfaction of knowing you wrote 50,000 words in a month.

If you to the NaNo link I have up there, there is a small exerpt.

But, if you really want to see it, I'll put the first chapter in a post and you can read it.

Ah, I found the excerpt. Sure was short and sweet. That little just sounds like... work. ;-)
