I like going back and seeing what I said a year ago on my eljay. I don't know why. It's fun, and sometimes painful, but that's the point of a journal, right?
Anyway, I was friended one year ago by
zakkati, so yay for that.
Some guy on the 4th floor of my building put a bunch of CDs to sell in the little lunchonette store in the building. It's painfully obvious he is my age or a bit younger, since the majority of the CDs are from the 80's. I'm guessing he got an iPod. I bought Men at Work, Business as Usual. I have the Vinyl somewhere but since I no longer have a record player, it doesn't do me much good, now does it. I loved that record.
He had a lot of 'best of' CDs, but I couldn't really convince myself I needed The Human League's Greatest Hits.
Oh, I did the stupidest thing today. Kate the babysitter usually has school on Tuesdays until 3, and normally Charlie goes home with his friend until Kate can come for him. Well today I was going to pick him up, since the friend is on vacation, so I put a note in his bag saying I was coming for him. Then Kate called and said she could pick Charlie up after all.
I forgot to tell the school.
The bus comes, no Charlie, Kate asks the driver if he is still at school and she says no!
So Kate calls me, I call the school, and I'm told 'He's not here.' and I'm all er...wanna check? and they did, and he was, and Kate got him, and all was well but boy did I feel like a bad momma.
Good Television night tonight. Hurrah.

on 2005-11-23 01:59 am (UTC)My boy managed to run past me into the kitchen after dark this evening (he's usually barred from this part of the house because there's too much that I can't fix for safety), and he started rattling the kitchen door knob. I ran after him, and the next thing I knew the boy wasn't there anymore. I checked the door, and it was ajar. I immediately panicked and called the husband, screaming, "He's outside!" I looked outside, and I didn't see him. I could just imagine him out in the woods dressed only in his pajamas.
The husband came in to ask what was wrong and immediately pointed out that the boy was sitting quietly, playing under the kitchen table.
I swear, these children can apparate.

on 2005-11-28 02:27 am (UTC)Men at Work! How weird! I've been listenting to them a lot more lately all of a sudden too! Guess we found the shared pop-cultural icon we were looking for. ;-)
Yeah -- The Human League's Greatest Hits -- it has the two good songs, and a lot more other stuff...
If we could see the confusing situations we set up coming and see how they could go wrong, we would not set them up would we? In fact when we do see them, we always decide to do things a better way. It happens. We all learn from our mistakes and do better next time.
