Spent an hour an a half in this 'orientation' at unemployment today. 8:30 in the morniing in a cold, cold room while the lady walked everyone through the process. Very, very, slowly. Was as dull as it sounds, and I still don't know if I am going to get benefits because they have to call me on Friday to determine if I am still getting money from my old job, or something. See there was this bit that asked if I got any money in lieu of notice, and I did. One whole week. So now they are saying I might not be eligible because I am still getting money. Which I'm not. I'm sure it will all work out but still...blech.

The interviews yesterday went okay. The first one was part time, and it would be an interesting job, but I just don't think I can do part time, as much as I would like to. Can't really swing it financially, and in the summer when Charlie isn't in school, my entire paycheck would be going to some sort of day care, so, not worth it. Plus I wouldn't get paid for sick days or anything, and that's a drag.

The second job is interesting, and I think the guy liked me, but he has other people to interview, so I'm not really terribly optimistic. But it went well, so who knows.

And in the meanwhile, I am drifting along today in a state of ennui. I've a million things I could be doing, but I can't seem to muster up the energy to do anything.

In lighter news my friend in Florida sent Charlie a Toys R Us gift certificate, and so we used it to get him a copy of The Fantastic Four. He was very happy. Squealed with delight whenever the Human Torch did anything. It was a cute movie. I enjoyed it. Not groundbreaking by any means, but it didn't need to be. It was fun. Such pretty boys in it. Plenty of almost naked shots of the actor who was Johnny Storm, which was nice, and frankly I think that guy...Michael Whatever who was The Thing...is really hot, too. Should definitely go on [livejournal.com profile] hotbaldies if he isn't already. And Mr Fantastic was cute, and the guy from Charmed who was the evil guy was nice to look at until he went all Darth Vader with the mask.

It needs a sequel. I would like to see the Fantastic Four actually saving humanity, now that we've gotten the origins out of the way. In this movie they didn't really save people, other then themselves. I mean, they saved the people on the bridge, and that was cool, and they stopped the bad guy, but there was no evil plot to release chemicals into the water supply or whatever it is Super Villians tend to plot.

Aside from "Jeffery"*, has there been any romantic comedy that features a gay couple? Because Brokeback Mountain is all well and good, but I don't like serious, depressing films. I want a movie that is the standard "meet cute, humourous conflict, humours conflict resolution with over the top happy ending" type story, only with same sex couples.

*Which, despite being a comedy and really, really funny, still dealt with serious issues. i.e. AIDS, and isn't exactly what I'm talking about. Patrick Stewart rocked in it though.
