Odd...

Radio went off this morning, and the news was being read. The first thing I heard was that it was officially announced that Michael Smith, 24, of Media PA was killed when a mortar hit the Humvee in which he was travelling. Michael Smith being the [livejournal.com profile] wolfmoon98 I mentioned yesterday.

It was an odd little coincidence, one, because, thanks to LJ, I felt like 'hey, I know that guy', and two, because once again the internet has beaten regular media to the punch. And three, it was strange that it was the first thing I heard when I woke up this morning.

ETA: Found this article on the Online Philadelphia Inquirer.
Michael smith

Good to know he was able to call his father.

Yes I feel rather obsessed with this, why do you ask?

Slow day.

First, this.
A E! is going to dramatize Michael Jackson's trial How is this entertainment? I already loathe that channel for doing some kind of E! True Hollywood Story about that teacher that had the affair with the 11 year old, and running stories about poor Lacy Peterson, but this just tears it. How is a possible pedephile 'entertainment'? Just because Michael Jackson is, or was, an entertainer at one point in his tragic life does not mean a criminal trial should be on a channel that's best known for talking about what dress Jennifer Aniston wore to the Emmys.

And speaking of Jennifer Aniston...Why do we care? I mean, it's not like it's unusual for a celebrity couple to split. It's more unusual if they don't. So just, if you must, announce it and let them get on with their lives.

I thought this was funny though...But unlike news organizations that have prepared obituaries for when somebody dies, Min said, "We don't have relationship obituaries ready to go." Because based on the statistics of celebrity marriages, they should have. All they have to do is fill in the date.

In other news This guy gets on my nerves. I suppose in the current climate of conservativism and right wing religious beliefs slowly taking over, it could be considered a breath of fresh air, but frankly I find this guy just as annoying as the people who don't want to teach evolution. You don't believe in God, fine, but don't force the rest of the world to not believe in Him. Or Her. Or Whatever.

And finally...hypocrisy at its finest

Oh - if you live in Los Angeles, don't eat at this restaurant

That's all.
