Every year I tell myself I should celebrate Burns Night, in honor of the fact I'm the tiniest bit Scottish, and every year I forget about it until it is too late. This time I at least remembered while it was still the 25th.

Not that I'm all that game to eat Haggis, mind, but I like Robert Burns. I could have a glass of Scotch in his honor at any rate.

So poor Charlie's eye is slightly better this morning, although it still seems to ache. He couldn't even chew last night, because it hurt to move his head. Today he was much more cheerful, proclaiming happily that he could 'see with one eye', and I'm sure everyone is petting and coddling him something fierce. The whole school seemed to know about his little accident, his sitter told me the bus driver even stopped and told her what happened. We have a very close-knit community, I guess.

In useless news, I read a recap of that show Point Pleasant on Television without Pity, because I went to college not far from the real Point Pleasant, and was curious. Sounds like a silly show. They did mention a church in Ocean Grove, though, and I am rather sorry now I didn't watch the episode to see how wrong they got the church. The Boy I Loved in College lived in Ocean Grove and was a very active member of the church there. Natually I got to know the area fairly well. The town was founded strictly for members of the Methodist church to spend their summer living in tents and worshiping. Really. At one time in the not so distant past, no cars were allowed in the town on Sunday, so everyone would drive out of town Saturday night, and the gates would close. I shudder to think how wrong that show is going to represent that town.
