I've been a fan of Miss Piggy for decades. During my high school years, my bedroom door was adorned with pictures of Miss Piggy. Today my kitchen is full of pig-related items, as that is my collectable thingy, and one of my prized items is a very big framed poster of Miss Piggy. And I have the Miss Piggy Cookbook. Which is fun.

So yeah. Miss Piggy. My heroine. :)

Got this from [livejournal.com profile] wolfma. Not sure exactly what one is supposed to do, but what I inferred from [livejournal.com profile] wolfma's post, I assume one picks a poem, says why one likes it, and then posts the poem.

Now I like many a poem, so this wasn't easy. I had to consider space and time constraints as well. I'm rather fond of The Wasteland, for example, but pasting it here would make this an insanely long post. So I thought about it and decided to pick "To Althea From Prison".

One of the things I looked forward to the most when I was in college was studying English Literature. With visions of Educating Rita dancing through my head, I could hardly wait to have the impassioned and intelligent arguments and discussions between myself, my fellow students and my professor about literary criticism.

Alas, my first English Literature professor was duller than ditch water and had the personality of a chair. He rambled on about dates and places like Professor Binns on a bad day, and never once engaged us in any kind of discourse. It was very disappointing.

One supremely dull day I decided to memorize To Althea during class. I forget why I picked this particular poem, but I do know it held some significance for me at the time. It's highly romantic, and, at 19, I suppose I was as well. At any rate, here it is.

I had a dream about Lost again last night. For awhile I was Claire, and had somehow gotten off of the island and was in an oddly deserted city. I, or Claire, was planning on going back to the island for some reason. And the baby's name was Peter.

Then the dream shifted a bit, and I was me, telling the car payment people the reason I hadn't paid my car payment was because I was one of the passengers of flight 815.

It sucks when bill paying enters one's dream because I woke up totally tense and unhappy.

Someone else on my friends list mentioned an 'age goal', meaning they would try to 'make it' to that age without succumbing to depression. Sometimes I think Charlie is the only thing that really ties me down. When I get really depressed, which has been happening quite a lot recently, I think of Charlie, and think how I can't leave him. Helps get me through another day.

I missed Gilmore Girls, but my friend is taping it, so that's okay.

The reason I missed it is because we went to this resturant that just opened in our town called The Pop Shop. Evidently everyone in town has been waiting eagerly for a family resturant to open because the place was packed. Unfortunately, as it was quite literally the first day, the service was really slow - teething pains, as it were. But they were very kind and apologetic about it, and I'm sure they'll find their feet.

Meanwhile it is an adorable place - the menu looks like a newspaper and is packed with all kinds of items - tons of food. They have about 20 different grilled cheese sandwiches in varying degrees of fancy. I had one that was ham and vermont cheddar and sliced apples on pumpernickel bread and it was really good.

The 'creamery' part of the place is amazing - old fashioned sodas, even egg creme which is this old-fashioned soda shop type of a thing, and all kinds of milkshakes and ice cream and stuff. I'm looking forward to sampling some of that.

Anyway...time for House, so more later!
