But I've two interviews on Monday, so I deserve a break, right?
Just watched this movie on cable called Unconditional Love. Looked it up on IMDB and apparently it was never released in theatres, which is too bad, but makes sense, because it is a brilliant movie that would've have gone over the average audience's head.
Stars Kathy Bates and Rupert Everett and Jonathan Pryce and is just a very original movie. Kathy plays a middle aged housewife who is a long time fan of this Barry Manilow/Tom Jones type singer called Victor Fox. It' rather a complicated story but basically Kathy Bates is a housewife who's husband just left her because he decided he longed for adventure - tells her it is 'her fault' which is sort of a running theme. Victor Fox is murdered and on impulse she decides to go to the UK to his funeral and discovers that Victor was actually gay, and had a long term partner, played brilliantly by Rupert Everett.
Anyway...it is a good, fun, touching and over the top movie. The cast is stellar and has a really funny cameo by Julie Andrews.
Speaking of Rupert Everett, a friend of mine recently expressed the opinion that it was hard for her to see a gay actor in a straight role because 'how can you fantasize about him if you know he's gay?' I was watching Rupert in this movie, where he actually played gay, and had no problems fantasizing about him. The man is gorgeous. I don't care who he sleeps with. I just like looking at him.
Anyway...Must go do stuff now. Maybe.
