Musical notes
Aug. 9th, 2006 03:39 pmCharlie made a water xylophone using 8 glasses filled with varying levels of water. He is very proud of it, and, being him, has already figured out how to play recognizable tunes on it.
My 14 year old neighbor is out in her garage practising her drums. She's actually quite good, and very dedicated, but I can't help but think of the Brady Bunch episode where Bobby tried to learn the drums. Apparently Mr and Mrs Brady didn't think it was worth investing in lessons for the boy, so he just banged on the drums with, as the ancients said, hilarious results.
My friend gave me a Corrs CD, since she'd bought two accidentally. They're good. I'd heard them before, a bit, but hadn't really formed an opinion, but I must say I like them.
I'm finally reading Slammerkin* by Emma Donoghue. It is really good, although it is obvious it isn't going to have a fairy tale ending. Nonetheless, it is one of those books that really get into one's head.
*Had to stop myself from adding 'babe' to the title
