When Charlie was little, he decided he was going to cross the monkey bars at the playground at school. Every day he would try to make it across until his hands were covered in blisters, but he kept trying until he could finally one day he could cross those monkey bars like, well, a monkey.
He's had a rough year, all told, with behaviour issues and the like, but he knew he had to improve. He worked really hard, just like he did when he was conquering those monkey bars; sometimes falling, but always getting up to try again, working hard to learn better social and academic skills.
Today I got a letter from the school:
Charlie has been nominated by one of our teachers as a student that has made a positive impact on Collingswood Middle School, and as a possible student of the month recipient. This means that he has impressed one of our teachers with his work ethic, attitude, kindness, or sheer determination.
He made it to the other side.
I am very proud of him.
