charliesmumSo, I was thinking about Led Zepplin the other day. One of their songs was on the radio, and it occured to me, not for the first time, that really, the guys in Led Zepplin were geeks. I mean, they reference Lord of the Rings, for feck's sake. How geeky is that? And they have an entire song about how Vikings invaded Britian way back when. Geeks.
I find this nicely ironic, since the kids that listened to Led Zepplin back in their heyday were the ones who would pick on other kids who did things like reference Lord of the Rings and who knew details about Vikings. The kids who liked Led Zepplin would roll their eyes at some black-clad, pentacle wearing kid in school, but had no problems with, oh what's his name...not Robert Plant, the other guy...anyway, he was all into the whole 'Witchcraft is cool' thing, but he rocked out on guitar so he was cool. Jimmy Page. That's his name.
You know the only reason they took up rock-n-roll in the first place was to score some cool points so people wouldn't think they were geeks. Which, in fact, they were.
And lets face it. I'll bet lots of the rock stars who were and are so hot they have to turn groupies away were once quiet guys who wrote poetry in their notebooks during gym class and had trouble sometimes talking to girls.

Being a child of the 80s, forgive me if I'm wrong... but I thought EVERYONE was into Lord of the Rings in the 70s... Is that not true??
