Heavy Sigh

I went to the thing about the substutite teaching yesterday. It was vaguely interesting, but basically I'd have to pay $75 to get my certificate, which is fine, then pay $7 to get the background check done, and then they want me to pay them $160 for 3 nights of training on how to be a substitute teacher. Now I'm just thinking about it, and trying to decide if it is something I really can and want to do.

Today though I am feeling very pessimistic about my life. This whole week really I've been in this downward slump, I don't know if it is the weather, hormones, or because I have the most mild case of bi-polar disorder ever, but I am just not feeling happy this week.

To top it off I made a stupid mistake on this email today so I am convinced the boss guy is going to decide I suck and not keep me on after all. I suck at working.

It didn't help that yesterday I had to call this hotel and get the credit card billing straightened out. It wasn't my fault, but I still felt stupid and that I can't ever do anything right ever.

The system I once worked as a sub in didn't provide training. And I've never heard of having to have a certificate to substitute.

This is the worst time of year for depression, experts say, and you're definitely not alone in feeling down.

Sounds like you've got a major case of the winter doldrums. I can totally relate. One thing that helps me when I get really bad is to do something that pulls my focus away from myself and my problems. Volunteer work (spending some time at a homeless shelter; helping out at the local Democratic headquarters if there's an election in the works) usually takes me out of myself long enough to snap me out of it. You might want to think about doing things that could include Charlie; they're never too young to learn about responsibility toward the larger community.

Or, if that doesn't work for you, I hear oreos dipped in ice cream and covered with chocolate syrup can work wonders. LOL

Either way, I hope your blues dissipate soon. *hug*

I think charliesmum is fantastic. I wish I could take charliesmum out for drinks and chocolate cake later tonight, to make her feel better. Referring to charliesmum in the third person is fun. But, really, she's fabulous. I hope she feels better soon.

I hope your mood lifts, because that sounds like a bad case of the winter blahs. Hang in there.

can you get those costs covered by unemployment? they're way more lax than unemployment benefits - like, even though you're working again, it's not full time, so you can probably still get them paid.

i can find out the phone number of the office for you if you want.

That's a good point. I have to go to this silly class thing there next week, and I know they have some reimbursement thing. Will have to ask.

Yeah, they pay 100% for in-state tuition if you have an open claim or whatever, and i think that as long as you are working less than 30hr/wk you're still eligible.

hope you're feeling better!

::HUGS::

I always read your posts, and am glad to have you on my friend's list. I want to meet you someday. And I think there's a little boy who'd say that you're the bestest Mommy every.

*HUGS* You can so do things right. I'm sorry life sucks right now. It can only get better.

A word of caution re: substitute teaching -- kids are awful people. They torture subs.
