Not coherent enough to think of a title

charliesmumFirst of all, I did get on the Barsky Show, and did pretty well. I'm pretty sure my voice didn't shake and I didn't say stupid things, and I think my grammar was on, so yay. The topic was Gay Marriage because The state Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday in a case that could make New Jersey the second state to legalize gay marriage.
I basically said what I usually say, that no one is asking for permission to be in love, that people would do that anyway, and they are just asking to have the same legal rights. They agreed with me. It was cool.
Poor Barsky has been all over the dial in Philadelphia. He was a morning DJ for years during the early and mid-ninties on one station that I can't remember the call letters for, and then he went to Y100, and they changed the format abrubtly on him, and sacked him, then he went to WMMR, and was there for a couple of years, and then went to Q102 I think it was and they changed the format on him and sacked him. That one particularly sucked, because my alarm was set to it, and they changed it to some horrible hip-hop/rap type music which is just not fun to wake up to if you're not expecting it. Then he was gone for a couple of years, and now he's back. He and I seem to have the same sort of employment karma. Let's hope we're both settled now.
Oh, and they have a myspace page, if anyone cares. It's thebarskyshow. I've yet to venture into myspace, because it scares me. Somehow I imagine it is peopled only with teenagers.
Anyway...I like him because he's funny without going overboard, and never tries to out Howard Stern Howard Stern. And he talks about intelligent things. Most of the time. His current audience tends to skew male, so there is a lot of crude humor and suchlike. But it's balanced enough to keep me happy.
On to less frivolous topics, my friends, ones who were fostering those girls, got charged with negligence because the girls had lice. Lice they had when they got there. It was the grandmother making trouble, or being vindictive or something. Jennifer had to have this guy come inspect the house today. Fortuately she is pretty obsessive about being tidy, and had nothing to hide. The guy said everything was going to be okay, but meanwhile they lost out on a permanant placement of a 15 month old baby, and won't be able to get on the list for several weeks. This is thanks in large part to that Jackson woman who, coincidentally lived in Collingswood. DYFUS isn't taking any more chances. The big dorks.
I was going to talk about television, but I'm not in the mood. Maybe tomorrow. Although did anyone catch the Wizard of Oz name on Lost? Because I totally didn't.

He was married to "Miss Scarlett" who I heard later divorced him and then died under "mysterious circumstances." I missed all the good stuff when I moved to Cinci for those 8 years.

on 2006-02-17 02:07 am (UTC)Dammit, that's just wrong. Do they have any proof the girls had the lice on placement? Did they take them to a pediatrician or anything for it? I guess my hopes for the grandmother being a decent human being just went down the toilet. Lice is extremely hard to get rid of (the juvie girls we had at my work can attest to that - lice and crabs, yay!), plus, lice isn't a 'dirty' problem. Lice have an easier time holding onto clean hair rather than dirty, oily hair. So if the girls were kept clean - and I'm sure they were - it made it even harder to get rid of them. I take it DYFUS is the dept of youth and family services? They should know this *and* they should the medical condition of the children they placed with someone before placing them. Incompetents.
