Scene: Mommy is upstairs in the computer room, reading LJ and vaguely thinking about getting dressed. Charlie is downstairs playing.
CHARLIE: Mom, I need you
Mommy goes to the top of the stairs and looks down at her son, who is gazing upward with a solomn expression on his face, clearly a child with Something On His Mind.
MOMMY: Yes, honey, what do you need?
CHARLIE: (he pauses a moment, looking down at his feet, seemingly wrestling with a heavy thought of great import.) There are chocolate covered marshmallow bears.*
MOMMY: Yes. Yes, there are chocolate covered marshmallow bears.
CHARLIE: (in a voice tinged with hopefullness) What are they for?
*Sitting on the kitchen counter. They are from my friend, who's co-worker just got back from Norway and brought them for me, as the times my friend has gone to Norway she brought them for me and now I am addicted.

on 2006-07-09 05:57 pm (UTC)That is so very zen. What is any of us for? ;-)
Very cute. My kiddo occasionally comes to me with that look on her face and tone of voice usually reserved for feminine hygiene commercials. "Mom, have you ever had that ... not so fresh ... feeling?"
And it turns out to be a question or a thought about it being time to get new shoelaces or something.
