First of all - isn't my new icon sort of cute. I succumbed to peer pressure, and did the cartoon face thing. If you really stretch your imagination, it looks like me, in that I have short brown hair and brown eyes. It's fun though. (and I put the baby in cause I'm Charlie's mum. How bloody clever is that?)

So, I had another talk with my boss today. Basically (and bear with me because I'm still working through this myself) he said although I have some strengths, I don't have the strengths needed for some parts of the job I'm currently in. Let me tell you, if I had understood that what he was looking for was someone to try to make sense of 40 pieces of paper that have billing hours on them covering 4 years and would have to somehow match up the hours on the billing to the hours on the timesheets when nothing seems to actually match, then I probably wouldn't have taken the job. I'm not a data processor. Never said I was. When he said 'projects' I thought he meant things like putting proposals together, or finding vendors or something, or just basic administrative stuff. I know for a fact my predecessor didn't do any of this. So, I'm sitting there, thinking 'this is it, I'm getting fired, good thing I've updated my resume' but it turns out they are going to 'look into' figuring out what I can do here, and hiring someone new to do the crap I can't do. To do this I would have to go part time. Which is good and bad. Financially I think we could swing it if we just made a few sacrifices - cable, for example - but I worry mostly about health insurance, since my husband's company has crappy health insurance. So I think, 'hey, this might not be bad, then I could be home for Charlie after school,' which is something I really want to do, but then I panic about the finances and the health insurance, and frankly I'm not really sure how I feel.

I am grateful they didn't fire me outright, though. That shows some appreciation of the things I do right, I guess.

So I'll take it a day at a time, and meanwhile, send out my resume. In fact I do have an interview on Tuesday, but it is one of those situations I think is going to be something like telemarketing, even though she swears it isn't. It's an 'entry level management training' position. It sounds good, but I'm a bit cynical.

What would be really nice is if my husband's stupid band would get rich and famous, then I wouldn't have to worry at all.

And in other news, I have been invited to join this Harry Potter role playing thingy. That should be fun. Wouldn't it be really ironic if I made a Mary Sue character without realising it?

I love the icon. The little baby`s so cute! When I tried to make one for myself, the site wasn`t working. Oh well.

[livejournal.com profile] cloudofcalm invited me to join. Only just today, so I haven't done anything yet. I think it is fairly new. She told me they are in need of more players, so if you aren't on it, you probably could join, no worries!

Pleeease join! We need people, desperately. If you know anyone else who'd join, then do tell them about it. We have most teachers, but some gaps, and we definitely need students, particularly males as everyone seems to be female. *sigh* But please please join!

I did put an application in. I suppose I wait to hear if it was accepted or something?

I did a professor, too. Muggle Studies.

I'm looking forward to this.

Good luck with the interview, you never know, it could turn out great. I'm actually starting up selling Mary Kay stuff for extra cash, it's not much, but it helps. One day, I'm going to be a famous writer, and never again shall I worry about "real" work.
