Still not warm

Today I went with Charlie and his class to Johnson's Farm* for a field trip, and I just didn't dress warmly enough. And by warmly enough I mean I wore a heavy sweater and my leather jacket when I should've worn 2 heavy sweaters and a parka.
It was okay if the wind didn't blow, but blow it did, and all the activities are, pretty much by definiton, outside, so it was cold. Charlie, of course, didn't seem to care. I did have him in three layers of clothes, which I suppose helped, but he was having far too much fun to notice things like the weather.
They did the pumpkin picking thing, and then we went into the store to get warm and coffee, and then we had a earlyish lunch, and then we went to the little non-petting zoo** where I got the Llama song stuck in my head because there were llamas there.
Charlie's favorite part was feeding leaves to the goats. Yes, they had corn they could shove down this tube thingy for the goats, but, after I mentioned how goats will eat anything, Charlie picked up a big leaf and, by dint of great effort, got it over the two fences that are designed to keep children from getting anywhere near the animals and was delighted to see the goat eat it.
Naturally any kid within spotting distance thought this was great fun, and many leaves were shoved, in quite creative ways, across to the goats who I'm sure were thrilled. It was really rather fun, I must admit.
In other news, I'm catching up on that Heroes show, and it's good. I like it. Jess from Gilmore Girls is in it. Milo whatever. Plus the guy playing the son of the professor who is tracking down the people...OMG hot.
And finally, New Jersey's Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that same-sex couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexual couples. My state rules.
*Be warned. The website has the most obnoxious music playing on it.
**Because of E-Coli or something that some kids had gotten at a petting zoo a few years ago.

on 2006-10-25 08:59 pm (UTC)how can you go to a petting zoo and not pet animals??????? that has to be th amost insane thing i have ever heard in my life.
considering most schools make kids wash their hands till the skin comes off for just about every reason under the sun any way.
i am glad he and the goats had a great time.

on 2006-10-25 09:11 pm (UTC)It's crazy that you couldn't pet the goats, but I guess that's the way the world is nowadays. You can't even step on someone's foot accidentally without getting sued.

on 2006-10-26 01:54 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how I feel about Niki. She's sort of annoying me. Am wondering why both super-hero girls are pretty blondes but whatever. I quite like Claire.
Speaking of Niki, though, I wonder if her son will prove to be a super hero too.

on 2006-10-26 03:19 pm (UTC)Have you read any of the comics at NBC.com yet? They're sort of like missing scenes from the episodes.

on 2006-10-25 09:31 pm (UTC)I never get the Llama Song stuck in my head, because I don't know the words (such as they are). What happens is that the tune will start as the Llama Song, but soon my brain gives up and turns it into the Sawyer Song or, lately, the Dalek Song.

on 2006-10-26 02:38 am (UTC)I've been watching Heroes, too. Some weeks I wonder why I keep watching as it seems to be going a la Lost with presenting more questions than it answers, but I always end up tuning in the next time around.

on 2006-10-26 07:55 am (UTC)...okay, maybe not Simone.
There are many awesome Llama song icons. I think my favourites are the planets one (planet, planet, not[Pluto]), the Irwin one (irwin, irwin, croc) and the Doctor one (Doctor, Doctor, Jack!)

on 2006-10-27 07:59 am (UTC)Good for Charlie for helping the goats eat the good stuff.
And wow for NJ. Your state is awesome indeed. Mine, on the other hand, can't even get it's ass to recognize non-religious heterosexual marriages...
