My friends are losing their foster kids. Tomorrow, apparently.
The kids are going to their paternal grandmother who apparently couldn't be bothered with them when they were eating out of trash bins and sitting on a shit-covered couch while their heroin addicted mother slept, but now she wants them. Probably so she can hand them over to their father, the pedephile.
When DYFS sent the kids to my friends', they were told this was a definite foster to adopt situation, and there was no other family in the picture. They have spent the last eight months loving these children, caring for them, giving them security and safety, but they aren't 'blood relations' so, back to grandma they go.
You have no idea how much these kids have changed since they got here. The twins didn't speak, and now they talk in full sentences. The oldest would sleep all the time and hide in the closet, and now she is a bright and happy little girl. What is going to happen to them?
I wish there was something I could do. I wish they could run off to New Zeland with the kids. I wish the universe was actually fair. I really wish the father gets hit by a bus sometime in the next 24 hours.
I wish real life had happy endings.

on 2006-11-17 06:48 am (UTC)There probably should be some form of making sure they are being taken care of, in their grandma's house. Will your friends be able to take them back if they aren't?
