You know how in that movie, someone says to Jimmy Stewart that 'no man is poor who has friends'?* Actually, Anyway...it's really true, isn't it?

I'm so extremely blessed in my friends, and I can only hope I can pay it back in kind.

My one friend, she of the earring making/costume creating/coconut-boat buiding talents, came with me to my new flat, early last week, and immediately offered up some left over paint she had, along with some curtains (including shower curtains) that she said she had no use for, and suggested which colors would work in each room.

This weekend she, along with two other amazing people (and one person worked like a dog even though she was really tired, for which I am very grateful. You know who you are) came to the flat on Saturday with me, and spent the entire day painting. I mean, I helped, but would I have done that on my own? No. And now every room but the kitchen (barring some touch-ups) is painted in seriously beautiful colors. I shall post photos later today.

I really can't believe how lucky I am that I have such great people in my life - and that includes you, my on-line friends. I've had friends offer to help me move, showered me in boxes as well as emotional support during this time, and break their backs painting a place they are not even going to live in.

I am very lucky.

And, since this isn't a post from me unless it includes a mention of Charlie, he is very excited about the place.

In fact, last night after my mom's birthday dinner, he insisted on going to the 'apartment home' for a little while, even though there is no where to sit, and nothing to do, so we got some ice cream, and went and sat on the floor for a little while, and talked about changes in our life. I'm still not sure how much he understands about the mommy and daddy situation as he keeps asking me why we are not going to live together, but ultimately he is looking forward to the move.

Him and me both.

*I'm pretty sure Charles Ingalls said that once, too.

I'm so glad you have such great friends, and that Charlie is excited about the apartment.

see? Things are looking good for you. All your worries were for no reason at all. And yes, having great friends is priceless

I'm so glad you're settling in OK! I can't carry anything or inhale pain fumes, and my aesthetic sense is bad enough to make the Queer Eye guys weep openly, but if you ever need help unpacking or something drop my a line.

I feel like such a lazy person! I could have come by if Steves family wasnt in from Vegas and Florida for the memorial. Believe me - I would have rather painted. Sometimes the inlaws are just too much.

Ill mail your announcement and picture to the new place. I have to get more cards - hence why you dont have yours yet. I ran out. Im an ass who cant count. We should definitely do something soon.
