I...I...I really don't have any words for this.

Is this a good thing? I don't know. Who is it marketed for? Do kids even know who Debbie Harry, Cindi Lauper and Joan Jett are, and would they really want them in barbie doll form?

Even more frightening is the thought that it is being marketed to people my age. If I start collecting punk rock barbies, I think I might want someone to put me away for my own safety.

Does Debbie Harry Barbie come with a Studio 54 play set? Actually, that'd be kind of cool...

This reminds me of the story of a person (I forget who it was) being asked what punk was. He responds by kicking over a trashcan. "That's punk." The guy who asked then kicks over another trashcan. "That's punk?" The other guy says, "No, that's a trend."

There's something beautifully ironic about punk rock Barbies. It's probably just the thing that these ladies would be into.

Also, I think my mom would like that Debbie Harry Barbie.

I think Debbie Harry should come with her own little compact full of cocaine. :)

These are made for collectors. There are many grown up Barbie collectors out there that buy the special edition expensive models that kids absolutely don't. They have ones in designer fashions, retro barbies, etc. They're made for a shelf. I could definitely see someone of our age buying them, especially if you are a crossover fan. I want to see Boy George Ken!

Ken would certainly fit in there. ;)

Aw, I was hoping that the Cindi Lauper one would have the pink mohawk haircut.

I mean, er, so I could admire it. From afar. Never would I buy such a thing.

I think Rob might want the Debbie Harry one. If it looked anything like Debbie. Which it doesn't. :-(

I like them! And my daughter knows them, kids know what their parents know, sometimes. I used to listen to so much Elvis, Beatles, and the Beach Boys growing up in the 70s....

I think I like it actually. They've been marketing Barbies to our age group for years. Especially the collectable ones, which is what these seem aimed at being. I personally would buy the Joan Jett one, and maybe the Debbie Harry one. I would love it if there was a Studio 54 play set, with fake cocaine and everything! ;)

A lot of adults, as far as I know, collect Barbie. And for them, this is fantastic. And if Debbie Harry comes with Studio 54? That bitch is MINE. XD
