I just opened this junk email and my jaw dropped in absolute surprise as I read what was on it: Dear Carol,
Let me take a minute to tell you of a video that has really taken us by surprise. Me too The video is entitled "It's Not Gay."It's not even mildly amused In the last few weeks we have received thousands of orders for "It's Not Gay."Because they've discovered the untapped market of really closed minded bigots We had no idea there would be such a demand for the video.Hey, 51% of the country voted for Bush, nothing surprises me any more
It presents a story that few have heard. because it isn't true In the video, former homosexuals i.e. paid actors or people in serious denial tell their own story in their own words. Along with the homosexuals, medical quacks and mental health experts more quacks give a clear warning that the sanitized version of homosexuality being presented to students and in the media is not accurate. You mean Will and Grace isn't a reality show? Carson isn't really good with clothes? I'm just crushed now
I guess one reason the video has enjoyed such surprising sales is that it is 28 minutes long, and we all know people who would actually believe this dreck have limited attention spans which makes it a great tool to use with a Sunday School class, evening service or study group.
I hope you will order a copy and show it to your group. It should be shown in every church in America. Another good reason to stop going to church The price is only $15, including your soul shipping.
I actually emailed them back, for what good it would do. How in the heck did I get on your mailing list? I may be a straight woman, but I find the idea of your video horrifying and very cruel. Unlike you, I know homosexual people, they are part of my circle of family and friends, and I find it insulting beyond belief that you would think for a moment that it is a disease that can be cured. They are good people, who are kind and law abiding and spirtiual and, without exception, have been in long term monogamous relationships that are built on mutual respect and love. I honestly fail to understand what it is about homosexuals that worry you so much. Why does it matter who they love? Because that what it is about in the end, just as it is for hetrosexual people. It isn't a disease. It isn't a choice. It is another aspect of human nature.
Get used to it. And take me off your mailing list.
Sometimes the world really worries me. What part of 'compassion' don't these people understand?
Grrr
