On my daily 'words of wisdom from The Dalai Lama' calendar - Compassion also means loving enemies as well as friends, which isn't easy Too bloody right it isn't easy. But he is right. It's easy to be compassionate to people you like.
So I will work on having compassion forthat Jerkface bastard my friend's husband and realise that he has some issues he needs to deal with, and hope he realises how lucky he is to be married to my friend.
Moving on. It is likely that you have all heard by now, either through Neil Gaiman's blog or elsewhere about the blogger who got sacked from his job at Waterstones because he occasionally bitched about his job on his blog. Now, in true karmic style, the whole incident is now getting, let's face it, international attention, making the store look far worse than any incidental comments on a weblog could.
Sometimes there is justice in the universe.
I find the story interesting because, as a 'blogger' of sorts, I feel like I'm a part of something really new that is rapidly becoming a part of the fabric of our culture, and it is neat to be at the beginning of it.
It's a good thing I like my job.
