In Alan Moore's own words: One of those early notes was they both wanted to do a character that looked like Sting. I think DC is terrified that Sting will sue them, although Sting has seen the character and commented in Rolling Stone that he thought it was great. He was very flattered to have a comic character who looked like him, but DC gets nervous about these things. They started to eradicate all traces of references in the introduction of the early Swamp Thing books to John Constantine's resemblance to Sting . But I can state categorically that the character only existed because Steve and John wanted to do a character that looked like Sting. Having been given that challenge, how could I fit Sting into Swamp Thing?

I'd often wondered if Sting knew about John Constantinie and the resemblence. V. cool to know. Now I'm wondering what Sting's opinion of the movie would be. I suppose we can always hope that HBO or someone tries to make a series of the book, and does it right. Or, you know, just stick with the comic.

Am now having visions of Sting playing John in his 50's and James Marsters playing John in flashbacks. That'd be cool.

It's a really blood-filled comic graphic novel, and very dark, which is not usually my thing, so why I'm so drawn to JC I don't know, except for the Sting thing. I just love his dark sarcasm, I think. For a really good taste of John with much less blood, I'd recommend Books of Magic, by Neil Gaiman.

4:30 and I am ready for this day to be over.

I love Sting too. My Charlie is kind of a Police fan, especially the early stuff. Nothing makes me giggle more than hearing my 7 year old singing "Bring on the Night" at the top of his lungs. That and "Landlord" which is this very early B-side song that Charlie just adores.

I forgot to respond when you said your brother won't have to be in Iraq for as long as they thought. That's fabulous! And I'm hoping you will post more photos of your niecelet soon!
