So, this weekend our new computer* with the broadband and every good thing up and died on me. It was working fine all day Friday, I go out to dinner and a movie, and come back to find that the screen is blank. I re-boot, get some sort of error thing advising me to reboot using the last known configuation, I do so and the "Windows XP" logo pops up, the little blue line thing does it's little blue line thing, and nothing. Blank screen. Try safe mode, get a bunch of code I don't understand and nothing. Computer go bye-bye.
There was a big storm Friday, but according to Husband, he was on it after that, and it was working, so I don't think the storm did anything. I don't know what is wrong with it, but whatever it is, it looks like it is something expensive.
Fortunately we have an older computer, that hopefully will take the broadband and whatnot. We just have to set it up.
Long weekend, however, was lovely. Spent Saturday with friends at the pool, then went to dinner at this inexpensive bar/resturant where they had outdoor seating with same friends (minus two) and then went to play mini-golf. Charlie got another hole in one. He is now obsessed with playing mini-golf.
Took the train to my parent's home 'down the shore' and then drove with my sister and her husband up to Red Bank where her husband's sister had a boat. Had a lovely afternoon on the boat - it never left the dock, but that's okay - and watched the fireworks from there. Which was really nice. Really nice. I'm spoiled now. I want to always watch fireworks from the deck of a boat. Charlie stayed with my parents - he decided he'd rather spend the day at their pool, and he had a great time, and Grammy bought him new sandels and he was happy.
Came home Sunday morning and trotted of to my in-laws, where Charlie spent another day in the water, and got to hang with my BIL who lives in NYC and I hardly ever see him, so that was nice.
Saw Batman Begins on Friday - Went with the usual suspects - Charlie's friend D, his moms, Jennifer and Melissa and our friends Tracy and Joanne. It was a good movie, but totally not Charlie and Devon's cup of tea. They did okay but the darn thing was over 3 hours long, and oddly talky. I missed bits because Charlie kept wanting to go to the bathroom. Part of the problem was there seemed to be something wrong with the sound and it was extremely loud. Charlie kept saying "This is annoying!"
So that's it for me. I need to continue to catch up with the friend's page. Is hard when one misses so many days. Sigh.
*Husband bought new computer at this store that buys and sells things, and it was really, really, inexpensive. Now we know why.
PS - I have a squillion icons now, yet can't decide which would be the most appropriate for this entry, so I'm leaving my default on. Kind of sad, really.
