When I was in High School, one of the people in my 'core group' of friends was this boy called Joey. He was an artistic type, like we all were, and his sense of humor always kept us laughing. Looking back, I realise how much he didn't share his personal life with us, not completely, but he was a great friend. I would call him Zaphod because he reminded me so much of that character at times.
He was a year ahead of me and not long after he graduated, he disappeared for parts unknown, but just recently he came back. Or, I should say he came around. He isn't one to look backwards, but for whatever reason, he's decided to give Philadelphia another go, and we got in contact again.
Last night my friend Kathryn and I (and Charlie) met Joey in Philly and we had a great time.
It was so odd though, because he was someone I'd known so well and at the same time a complete stranger.
It made me happy, too, because with Nina's death earlier, it felt good to reconnect with someone who was so important to me. I am glad he's back in my life, and I hope he stays for awhile this time.
