So, I stayed home today - the beauty part of quitting is the total lack of having to care what your soon-to-be former job thinks, and I set up our newish computer again, and for a while it was good, but now the letters are typing on the screen very slowly. Like one letter a minute. It is very annoying. Does anyone know why it is doing this, and what I can do to make it stop?

Does it need defragged or anything like that? Have you been on the internet and it could have spyware on it? I've heard that spyware can slow down your computer quite a bit.

try cleaning the temp files and internet cashe.
although *that* much of slowness.... it's strange.
besides... if it's new...
I'd just say reinstall windoze. after five tries yo uget a working one. maybe

...did you instal any big heavy programs lately? (like antivirus from a famous, big software company norton (symantec) or McAfee ? those slowed my PC down terribly and thus are gone now)

okay. I know what happened to your PC
it took me two days - and getting infected - to know
it's a trojan horse. my antivirus names it downloader.agent.12.az not that that matters.
run your antivirus
