We watched Doctor Who last night. The subject line was one of Charlie's comments later in the evening.

Yay! Gramps is not dead. I didn't think he would be, but we were still a bit worried.

Genius Kid - I pretty much figured him to be a goner, but the way they did it was brilliant. I'm always a sucker for redemption.

As [livejournal.com profile] wolfma pointed out, the different ways Martha and Donna greeted the Doctor when he wasn't dead was a nice touch. Martha's all smiley and huggy, and Donna smacks him on the arm.

For some reason, when the countries were arming up for a nuclear strike, I had to laugh because she was all "China, on line, Pakistan on line". Nice subtle political commentary there, I thought. There is a lot one could read into this episode if one wanted to. Like we can't depend on quick fixes to save the planet. We want to stop the pollution, we have to drive less, for example. And the whole 'war is bad' thing goes without saying.

I was sad when Ross died, and I liked what the Doctor said.

Nice shout out to the Brigadeer, too.

I knew the Doctor wouldn't be fooled by the Martha clone for a moment. And then they go and make me feel sad for the damn thing.

Oh! I thought the moment between Donna's mom and Gramps, when she was crying and he was comforting her, was really sweet.

OMG Rose! Charlie missed it at first so we went back to see it again. Hence his comment in the subject line. I LOVE how they are doing that. And it is interesting that it is Donna who's seen her both times.

I liked Donna's comment to Martha when Martha said she felt like a kid in dad's coat, "If you're calling him Dad then you are definitely getting over him." Cute.

And, the best, best, best line of the evening goes to the Doctor..."Are you my mummy?"

I wondered a bit if that wasn't something David Tennent threw in there because it was funny and they kept it in because it was, well, funny. I laughed all night about that. After explaining to Charlie why it was funny.

I now have to find the Empty Child (I have no idea where i put my discs with all my Doctor Who stuff on it) so he can see that episode.

I got teary at the end. Again. When Gramps said that bit about Donna bringing back some stars for him...waaaah.

So far, every single bloody episode has had me tear up, to varying degrees. Pathetic.

And finally...is it possible to Mary Sue your own show? Because, I'm sorry, the "Doctor's Daughter" with her blonde hair and Amazing Skillz and perky smile is SOOOO Mary Sue.

Hopefully there will be more substance to her in the actual episode.

And, for those who understand the timey-whimy stuff a bit more than I do, would it be possible for the Tenth Doctor to meet a daughter he may have fathered when he was the First Doctor? Because I know the first series had a granddaughter. Could Mary Sue be the mother of the granddaughter, but Ten just meets her back when she was young, or would that be crossing his own timeline?

And can the Doctor really cross his own timeline? Because he goes everywhere and every when and he's over 900 years old. You'd think eventually he wouldn't be able to go anywhere, if he were worried about his timeline.

Ugh. Time Travel gives me a headache.

What is it about Charlie and blondes, anyway?
