Charlie the boy and Charlie the pony

Last night Charlie and I watched Ninth Doctor episode, The Empty Child, so he could see why I laughed so hard at that bit in "Poison Sky".
This morning my phone rings, and it's Charlie. I look up to see him trying to hide in the other room, so I answer it, and he says, "Mummy? Are you my Mummy?" in an eerie voice.
He's such a ham, my boy.
So...pony.
My sister had her daughter's 3rd birthday party yesterday. Emme has taken after her Auntie Carol by being already very horse-mad, so my sister decided to do the pony ride thing for entertainment.
Charlie the Pony was a medium-sized Appoloosa pony, brown and white speckles. He was a very well-behaved pony, other than the fact that he was really craving my sister's lawn, and kept trying to eat it at inopportune times.
Emme was thrilled. A pony for her birthday! What could be better. The rest of the kids were thrilled to varying degrees. One boy went on 9 times, whereas my nephew Ky didn't go on at all. I coaxee Charlie to go on so I could get photos, but horse-riding has never been his thing.
I chatted with the pony-lady, and shared my fondness for horsies. Inside my 40 year old body a little girl was jumping up and down shrieking "YAY! PONY!!!" and the lady convinced me to take a turn on the pony. She'd have let me ride him alone, except he didn't have a proper bridle.
So I had a pony ride, too. Fun!
