Why is Saddam in his knickers news? CNN.com is taking the stance that it was wrong to publish the photograph, but they're still showing it on their website, aren't they?

I'm surprised There isn't a caption contest somewhere for the photo. You know, something like, "Saddam has a package for you", or "the eternal question, boxers or briefs, is finally answered.

Okay, so I'm not clever with captions.

Anyway - I personally think this makes him more human, if anything, and I don't see how publishing a photo of their former leader in his unmentionables is going to weaken the resistance, or insergents, or whatevever we're calling them.

I can always tell if there is an accident or something on one of the nearby main roadways, because our street gets bumper to bumper traffic full of people trying to avoid the bumperto bumper traffic on the other roads. Yesterday our road was full, but not because of an accident, but because of some drugged up 28 year old in an expensive car. It's kind of a funny story, really.

I was watching The Daily Show repeat yesterday, and there was a clip about education budget cuts in California being supported by the Governator.

Now I know The Daily Show isn't the best source of news, since it is primarily a comedy show, so please tell me that "Ahanald" didn't actually justify the cuts by saying people just need to learn to spend within their means.

Setting aside the fact this little piece of advice is coming from a multi-millionare whose means would encompass quite a lot, it seems like saying 'just do without the things you would like to have to give the kids a quality education. They don't need updated equipment or new text books, just make do with what you have."

I had the same urges as [livejournal.com profile] dragonwhishes. It's not that horrible - but really, was that nessesary?
I think cutting back on education is one of the dumbest ideas our goverments seem to share (and it's not like they lack dumb ideas, mind)

Ah, The Sun. Such high-quality reporting, as always!

I dunno about Arnie, but I do think it's utterly hilarious that the report says that "they found two water bottles" in the car and nothing else. I hope they never make a report about searching MY car. XD

As I said to my mum when that flashed (pardon the pun) up on Sky News this morning, "I would rather have gone through life not seeing that"

Saddam in his knickers? Good grief, can't they just try the man and get it over with?

(Note: I feel that if they are going to go with this whole "we only went in to liberate the place" thing, they might as well try him at the Hague where the judges will not be at risk of assassination. They've already presupposed they have a right to interfere in Iraqi affairs, judging him for crimes against humanity in the court of all humanity isn't going to interfere any more.)
