Jon Stewart made a MILF joke on Daily Show the other day, and I was reminded of a story my friend told me by a very young co-worker of hers that she was a MILF, and she didn't know what it was, and neither did I, and we had a good laugh when we found out. She really is a MILF. Me...not so much.

Maybe 10 years ago I would be. (despite the fact I wasn't a mother 10 years ago) but I think I'm too flabby at this point to inspire lust in anyone under the age of 35.

Ahem. Anyway...

I'm going to Dave and Busters tonight. It's very nice -I'm being taken out for my birthday, which isn't until Tuesday, but no law saying I can't celebrate the day before, right?

D&B is an interesting place - when I worked for PricewaterhouseCooper ages ago, we used to hold a dinner there for each training group, since they had come into Philly from all over the world. I would go and sometimes bring Charlie, who was around 2 1/2 at the time.

Let me tell you; you won't know the meaning of the word fear until you are standing in the middle of a crowded resturant/arcade hall and have lost your 2 1/2 Autistic son who doesn't speak. The people who worked there were fabulous though - they sent every person out on the floor and just combed the place until he was found.

Come on, 5 o'clock. I wanna go home!

So this morning my son woke up, looked at me sleepily and said, "Is it Monday?" I said "Yes, it is." He said, "Then it's your birthday! You're 37!" and gave me a kiss. I could have done without the reminder of my actual age as I feel a bit of a mid-life crisis coming on, but oh well.

I really do need to take stock of my life so far, because as far as things like 'what I want to be when I grow up' I really feel I've fallen way short of my goal. I'm having a hard time picturing myself in any job when I'm in my 40's and 50's, but I don't know what I'd rather be doing. Well I know what I'd like to be doing, but I don't know if I'll ever do it.

Anyway. I had a good weekend, so I will focus on that.

I had a a little party for myself last night, in honor of my birthday (which is tomorrow) and it was a really good time. I even convinced them all to play my board game called Playing Shakespeare. Dead fun game, and no one ever wants to play it because the Shakespeare scares them off. But it's just charades, really. And we laughed and had a good time.

And, I was given an actual Alivans wand as a gift, along with a Gryffindor scarf. Totally cool, methinks. I have a wand! Yay me.

It was a really nice night, and it made me feel extremely grateful I have the friends I do. I'm very, very lucky.

And I'm also a bit hungover, so I'm signing off for now.

I took the day off work yesterday so I could clean my house, since I'm having 'company' today. It was, oddly enough, fun. Made me rather wish I could be a traditional 'housewife'. Especially if I were like Laura Petrie, and looked cute in capri pants, and had a charming husband that sang duets with me.

Really though, I enjoyed my day. Charlie was at school, husband was at work, and I got tons done. It's just so hard to really clean on weekends mostly because I don't want to. I'm at work all week, and the weekends are the only time I get to do fun things, really. I try to 'clean as I go' during the week, but it's a bit like moving a mountain with a salt spoon at times, especially when my husband seems to be blind to the fact that there is a a dishwasher right next to the sink, thinks that there is a magic fairy who comes in the night to remove empty glasses and used tissues from the end table next to the couch, and that laundry will clean itsself if dropped in a heap on the bedroom floor. So taking a day that would normally be spent at work and doing the housewife thing felt good. Wish I could do that once a week. (Actually I wish I could hire someone to do it for me, but that's not gonna happen!)

So my house is ready to have people over, and all I have to do today is get the food ready, which is the fun part.
