charliesmum: (Not Good to be King by kirathaune)

The play opened this last Thursday. We've had such bad luck on this show, it's unreal*. Aside from the fact every single person in the cast had a cold pretty much the entire rehearsal period we had the following:

2 family deaths
1 broken wrist
1 cracked rib
1 dislocated shoulder
1 dislocated finger
2 ear infections - one resulting in a burst ear drum
2 cases of the flu

The last - the flu nearly cost us our opening night.

The guy playing Paris was sick all week. Had a fever, etc. Decided he still wasn't well enough to show up on Thursday. Cue panic. Long story short, a friend of mine stepped in and read the part.

There was all this drama of should we charge the audience or not, but the 'trustee in charge of money' said yes. The audience - there were only 7 people - didn't mind.

Then Friday one of the women playing Helen (Thank goodness we have 2) dragged herself in and immediately threw up. She STILL would've gone on but we wouldn't let her. We worked around it. (It was for Trojan Women, and when she's not 'Helen' she's '5th Woman' but we were able to get by without her.)

I did my 'named part' on Saturday. My boyfriend and 3 best friends came. I feel like I didn't do well. I don't know why. I just didn't feel 'in the zone'.

So anyone reading this who was there, feel free to reassure me.

We had really good audiences on Saturday. I hope that continues.

*I blame the director for willfully mentioning the Scottish Play. I really do.

Two more weekends, hopefully our bad luck is at an end.

In other news - need some advice from you all. Nothing major. It's just that there's a mouse in my flat. I Was drinking my coffee this morning, staring blearily at the telly, when I saw this mouse run down my hallway. I'm on the 2nd floor, and honestly I barely even get bugs in the flat. I was, to say the least, surprised to see a mouse.

I'm not sure if I should tell the landlord or just get a trap myself. I want a humane trap, either way. The poor thing probably just got pushed in here because of the unusually bad weather, and I don't see the point in killing it. Besides, the only thing worse than a mouse in the house is a dead mouse in the house.

Also - one can't just capture a wild mouse and put it in a cage, right? They've got diseases and things, right?

You did great as Andromache! A little tentative at first, but at the point where they came for the baby, you went wild. It was extremely disturbing to hear you shrieking. You communicated the horror of that moment most effectively. Poignant. Horrifying.

re: mouse -- I'll come with you to free the little bugger if you like. :)
