In case anyone was wondering, I had to leave work yesterday because Charlie was having a toothache. He's been having this toothache on and off since Saturday - got him children's motrin and some Ambosol, and that helps, but the ache keeps coming back. So I called our dentist who has seen Charlie unofficially several times when I have my checkups, but Charlie has never let him look at his teeth. He freaks out. However, I was worried about the tooth, so I called. My dentist, being the really awesome guy that he is, squeezed us in.

I told Charlie that it was important he let the dentist check out his teeth. I told him that if he was super good at the dentist's we'd go see if Byron was home after we were through.

Charlie was amazing. He let the doctor check his teeth, and he didn't complain once. Turns out the tooth isn't infected or anything, just the nerves being sensitive. The rest of his teeth are fine, except he has a couple of cavities in his molars. (which is something to be dealt with another day.)

And yes, we went to Byron's and I spoke with his mother, who immediately invited Charlie to come with Byron after school today. Charlie is over the moon about this. Apparently Byron is equally as pleased.

My home computer is still not accessing the interweb, which is frustrating, because I really wanted to post things, and I have come to the conclusion that I'm completely addicted to LJ.

Here's proof:

Charlie brought home a picture that he drew, and one of my first thoughts was 'this would make such a cute icon.'

Yesterday afternoon I was watching an old Buffy episode, the one where Faith comes out of her coma, and it was the bit with Faith's dream that she and Buffy were making a bed (and yes, my brain went to all sorts of slashy implications of that, thank you very much) and Faith says to Buffy that she knew there was 'lots to do before little sis arrives', and I was all, 'oh, wow! Dawn foreshadowing! and wanted to rush up and post it, but I couldn't.

And so on. Sad but true.

I had other things to talk about but I can't think of them right now.

Off to continue my catch up with the friend's list.

oh, poor kid! I'm glad it turned out to be nothing serious, and that he was willing to cooperate with the dentist.

I was thrilled he cooperated with the dentist. It was being a red-letter day.

By the way, you must have read Richard Lederer books, right? They're all about language.

Sounds like it was a red-letter day for him, too, with getting to schedule a visit with Byron!

I've read some of Lederer's columns; I keep meaning to read the books, but it's been hard to find them in the libraries around here. He seems like he's got a great sense of humor, though.

First things first: Your icon is amazing. I was laughing for 4 minutes straight. Incredible.

Second things second: Yay for Charlie conquering his fear of the dentist! I used to be deathly afraid of the scary man, but I've come around :)

Fourth things third (?): I am a Buffy-phile myself... and I'm hear to tell you that what you saw was one of three clear foreshadowings of Dawn. The other two are:

In the season 3 finale (Graduation Day Pt.2), Buffy has a dream with Faith in it. Faith delivers the cryptic message. "Miles to go. Little Miss Muffet counting down from 730." Joss Whedon has stated that 730 was in reference to 730 days (2 years). This proves for some serious dating issues, but whatever. Still cool.

In the season 4 finale (Restless), Buffy is having yet another dream. This time its Tara who delivers the message... the two of them have an entire conversation about new responsibilities (and note that in the background the digital clock was stuck on 7:30), then Buffy quickly says "I have to go." (paraphrased). Tara responds "Get home before Dawn."

I never did get what the 730 was. I know it showed up a lot, but I didn't get the reference.

Just goes to show Joss knew what he was doing.

And isn't Once More With Feeling the most amazing television episode ever?

(The icon is based on a metaquotes conversation - someone compared Shakespeare's soliquies to LJ posts, and it went from there.)

I'm only slightly embarrassed to say that I have the script/sheet music to Once More With Feeling as well as the soundtrack CD. :-D

I knew that OMWF was genius as soon as I heard the Mustard Song. That made me laugh through all the commercials.

I have the sound track. Or had. I don't know where it is. Sigh.

Faith delivers the cryptic message. "Miles to go. Little Miss Muffet counting down from 730."

Oh! Oh! *raises hand like Hermione in class* There's another element to this bit! The first time one of the people made crazy by Glory accosts Dawn, he repeats, "Curds and whey ... curds and whey..."

I've never come up with or seen any theory that explains what the nursery rhyme has to do with Dawn, but still, more cool foreshadowing.

Glad the trip to the dentist went well!

Oh, that's clever!

That Joss.

I like how he had the cheese guy in everyone's dream and it totally didn't mean anything. And then didn't he show up in some later dream sequence?

Ah! I had forgotten all about that! Little Miss Muffet/Curds and Whey. Oh Joss Whedon, how I love thee!

I'm so glad that Charlie is okay! And only two days 'til HBP, too!

Okay, I snuck that last one in there...

Anyway, yeah, being addicted to LJ is an easy thing to do, isn't it?

Two days for you. I'm not sure when my order is coming in, as it is coming from the UK. Possibly they sent it out so it gets to me on the 16th, but I don't know.

I can wait. Hopefully. It's avoiding the spoilers that will be hard.
