In case anyone was wondering, I had to leave work yesterday because Charlie was having a toothache. He's been having this toothache on and off since Saturday - got him children's motrin and some Ambosol, and that helps, but the ache keeps coming back. So I called our dentist who has seen Charlie unofficially several times when I have my checkups, but Charlie has never let him look at his teeth. He freaks out. However, I was worried about the tooth, so I called. My dentist, being the really awesome guy that he is, squeezed us in.
I told Charlie that it was important he let the dentist check out his teeth. I told him that if he was super good at the dentist's we'd go see if Byron was home after we were through.
Charlie was amazing. He let the doctor check his teeth, and he didn't complain once. Turns out the tooth isn't infected or anything, just the nerves being sensitive. The rest of his teeth are fine, except he has a couple of cavities in his molars. (which is something to be dealt with another day.)
And yes, we went to Byron's and I spoke with his mother, who immediately invited Charlie to come with Byron after school today. Charlie is over the moon about this. Apparently Byron is equally as pleased.
My home computer is still not accessing the interweb, which is frustrating, because I really wanted to post things, and I have come to the conclusion that I'm completely addicted to LJ.
Here's proof:
Charlie brought home a picture that he drew, and one of my first thoughts was 'this would make such a cute icon.'
Yesterday afternoon I was watching an old Buffy episode, the one where Faith comes out of her coma, and it was the bit with Faith's dream that she and Buffy were making a bed (and yes, my brain went to all sorts of slashy implications of that, thank you very much) and Faith says to Buffy that she knew there was 'lots to do before little sis arrives', and I was all, 'oh, wow! Dawn foreshadowing! and wanted to rush up and post it, but I couldn't.
And so on. Sad but true.
I had other things to talk about but I can't think of them right now.
Off to continue my catch up with the friend's list.

on 2005-07-14 01:57 pm (UTC)I've read some of Lederer's columns; I keep meaning to read the books, but it's been hard to find them in the libraries around here. He seems like he's got a great sense of humor, though.
