One more thing and then I'll shut up.

I think I've come up with a basic plot idea for NaNoWriMo. At least I sat down and wrote 535 words, and I think I know where I want to go with this. Basically, I'm doing the ghost thing, but my main character isn't someone who habitually sees spirits. I'm hoping it will be a cross between a ghost story and one of those 'hey kids, let's solve the mystery of Smuggler's Cove' type books from the Stratemeyer Syndicate back in the day. I'm currently calling it Under the Oak Tree, because that's what sprang to mind.
Here's a poem I wrote about November awhile ago. I've posted it before, but I like it so there.
November begins
with leftover Halloween candy
purchased for half price at the grocery store.
Soon candy corn gives way to
Indian corn
decorating the door,
a welcome home sign
for family members who gather for that
most American of holidays;
celebrating their thankfulness with
turkey for five, or twelve,
or two,
depending on how the family has grown
or gone.
November ends
With leftover pumpkin pie,
holiday shopping and wondering
at how quickly the year has flown,
while outside the trees rival the summer flowers
with their brilliance,
Reminding us
that even endings can be beautiful
Oh, and Why the heck couldn't evil Nikki have just paid the mob guy back with some of the money she'd stolen?
I made a new House icon, see?

on 2006-11-02 02:03 am (UTC)The online comic tells us that ikiN had to wait six months for the money to be laundered, so presumably she's only just got it back and didn't have it when the mob came knocking. Besides, ikiN seems like the type to pick tearing people in half over paying them back any day.
God, that ep just about broke my heart. D.L. and Micah and cute family awesomeness and don't you just want ikiN to GO AWAY so Niki and D.L. and Micah can be happy? *sniff*
It also made my day, through Hiro's beatific smile when he heard that future!him had a sword, and Mr. Bennett's reaction to hearing that there was someone who could stop space and time on the loose - "That's cool". Okay, he's possibly evil, but he definitely appreciates the superpowers. I like some geek in my guy.
