My brush with fame 1983

When I was in High School I sang with a group of kids called "The Young Entertainers". We sang 'pop hits' and standards and whatall. One of the people I sang with was Calista Flockhart. Unusually for my family, we actually have a photograph of me singing, and I'm at my parent's house and got out the album and they have a scanner and...well, anyway...

PS, Charlie picked the icon.

on 2006-11-20 05:03 pm (UTC)The sad thing is, I loved those spandex spangly pants. Scary.
And my big poofy hair. You forgot to comment on my big poofy hair. :)

on 2006-11-20 04:30 am (UTC)2. Good thing she's facing the camera; if it were a side angle we might not be able to see her. Ok, that was mean. That's so cool thatyou met her!

on 2007-02-25 02:01 am (UTC)Yeah, she was a senior. I was a sophmore. Did you know her?
Re: Do I know Calista?
on 2007-03-13 06:26 pm (UTC)I sent her an offline instant message, saying, "Either you're hot, or you have great taste in women!"
She replied with an offline message saying, "I am Calista. Who are you, and where did you get my address?"
We soon became online friends, and chatted fairly steadily until July 13, 2006, Harrison Ford's birthday, when her Yahoo! account was deleted. I've never heard from foxcalista again, although I have written to Calista Flockhart many times, via her new fan mail address at ABC.com, and I have repeatedly asked her if she was foxcalista. She (or her minions) sent me an impersonally autographed photo last November, apparently as a thank you for a birthday present I sent her, and/or to show support for me while I was serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan during Thanksgiving and the Holidays, but she has never confirmed nor denied her identity as foxcalista.
Foxcalista always insisted that she was Calista Flockhart, and would get offended whenever I suggested she might not be who she said she was, but I've never conclusively proven whether or not she was Calista Flockhart.
However, as a result of my online-only friendship with foxcalista, whoever she really was, I ended up studying Calista Flockhart's life and career backwards and forwards, trying to prove or disprove her identity. Although I've failed, and doubt I'll ever know for sure, I'm glad I met foxcalista, because, thanks to her, I discovered what an amazing lady Calista Flockhart is, inside and out!

on 2007-03-14 04:10 am (UTC)I found it remarkable how she never broke contact without saying good-bye. A lot of people I've met in person will just leave me talking to myself during a chat. She never did that - ever. She always behaved like a lady, even when she was being naughty.
She never acted like it was too much trouble to explain football terms like "RZ" to me; she didn't make fun of me for not knowing who James Gandolfini was, or that the Cincinatti Bengals played football - not baseball.
She always seemed to understand and humor my fascination with her (or Calista's) celebrity. She walked that fine line between privacy, which Calista holds sacred, and fame.
If only everone were as kind, considerate and responsible as her!
